What is the reverse rotation G30 Turbine Housing Kit for?

It is the turbine housing for a G30 core that spins in the opposite direction to a standard unit. Garrett offers that layout for symmetrical twin-turbo installations and for single installs with packaging restrictions. This G30 Turbine Housing Kit gives the reverse core a T3 inlet and 0.83 A/R.

Can I fit it to a standard rotation core?

No. The volute is shaped to feed a turbine wheel turning in the reverse direction, and Garrett lists this housing only for reverse-rotation G30 super cores. For a standard-rotation core with a T3 manifold, the equivalent housing is part 740902-0090, also 0.83 A/R with a T3 inlet and V-band outlet.

Which reverse cores does Garrett list for this housing?

Five reverse-rotation super cores: the G30-660, G30-770 and G30-900, and the G-Series II G30-725 and G30-825. All share the 60mm by 55mm G30 turbine wheel, so the choice of core comes down to compressor size and the power target, which Garrett rates from 350 to 900 horsepower.

What should the other bank of my twin-turbo engine use?

A standard-rotation G30 with the matching standard housing, part 740902-0090, so both turbochargers run 0.83 A/R on a T3 inlet. Keeping A/R and core size the same on both banks makes the pair build boost evenly, which simplifies wastegate setup and the calibration.

Is a speed sensor worth fitting on a twin G30 setup?

Garrett recommends one. Each G30 core carries a maximum turbocharger speed, from 145,000 rpm on the G30-900 to 165,000 rpm on the G30-660, and a sensor in the compressor housing lets the tuner confirm both turbochargers stay inside it. Sensors are sold separately.

Description

Garrett G30 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.83 A/R T3 Free Float Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30 Turbine Housing Kit for reverse rotation, with a T3 inlet and 0.83 A/R, is the free-float housing that puts a reverse-spinning G30 on a T3 manifold flange, with a V-band outlet. Garrett lists part 740902-0100 for the reverse-rotation G30-660, G30-770, G30-900, G30-725 and G30-825 cores. Its main job is the second bank of a twin-turbo engine, where it mirrors a standard 0.83 A/R T3 housing, part 740902-0090, so the two turbochargers share symmetrical plumbing. On a single-turbo engine with room for a normal unit, the standard housing is the right buy.

Reverse Rotation on T3

Garrett builds reverse rotation G30s for symmetrical twin-turbo layouts and for single installs where packaging leaves no room for a standard unit. With a T3 inlet, this housing suits twin-turbo manifolds already built around that flange, and the 0.83 A/R keeps each turbocharger responsive while external wastegates hold boost.

Features

Reverse-rotation volute for a mirrored G30 pair
T3 inlet flange with a V-band outlet
Free float, controlled by an external wastegate
Stainless casting rated to 1050C (1922F)

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0100
A/R: 0.83
Turbine inlet and outlet: T3 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G30 Turbine Housing Kit for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G30-660 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5001S
Garrett G30-725 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934121-5001S
Garrett G30-770 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5002S
Garrett G30-825 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934121-5002S
Garrett G30-900 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5003S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no wastegate port
The reverse-rotation G30 super core is sold separately
Reverse rotation only; standard-rotation G30 cores need part 740902-0090
A larger reverse-rotation T3 housing is offered in 1.01 A/R as part 740902-0101

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
