Does the G25-660 Super Core include a turbine housing?

No. A Garrett super core is the center housing rotating assembly with the compressor housing attached, so the exhaust housing is bought separately. For this reverse-rotation version that means one of the reverse G25 kits, in 0.72 or 0.92 A/R with V-band connections, with or without an internal wastegate.

What power range does Garrett give for the G25-660 Super Core?

Garrett rates the G25-660 Super Core at 350 to 660 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. Garrett calculates the number from the choke flow of the compressor map, so it describes potential flywheel horsepower. Actual results depend on the fuel system, boost level, supporting parts and the tune.

When does a builder need a reverse rotation turbo?

When packaging calls for a mirror image, most often on a twin-turbo engine where one turbocharger sits on each side and the plumbing is laid out symmetrically. On those engines a reverse unit lets both sides use matching inlet and outlet routing. A single-turbo build does not need it.

What is the speed limit for this core?

Garrett publishes a maximum allowable speed of 165,000 rpm on its G25-660 product page, and running above it is at the risk of the owner with possible premature failure. A speed sensor fitted to the machined port in the compressor housing lets the tuner watch shaft speed. The sensor kit is sold separately.

Is the G25-660 a better choice than the G25-550 for my build?

Only if the power target needs it. The 54mm G25-660 moves the rating up to 660 horsepower on the same turbine as the 48mm G25-550. For a target comfortably inside the G25-550 range, the smaller compressor is the better match; for 550 horsepower and up, the G25-660 makes sense.

Description

Garrett G25-660 Super Core, 54mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G25-660 Super Core for reverse rotation carries the 54mm compressor, the larger of the two first-generation G25 wheels, on a center section that turns opposite to a conventional turbocharger. Garrett rates the G25-660 at 350 to 660 horsepower from 1.4L to 3.0L, so it suits a twin-turbo or mirrored installation where each unit has to support real power from a small frame. For a single turbocharger on a standard manifold it is the wrong core; buy the standard-rotation G25-660.

Center Section

Like the rest of the first-generation G25 family, the core uses a one-piece center housing and backplate and a shorter bearing cartridge, which leaves space for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft. Garrett says those rings reduce the chance of oil passing the seals into the compressor or turbine.

Features

54mm G-Series compressor wheel, 65 trim, quoted at 79 percent peak efficiency
Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F)
Machined speed sensor and pressure ports in the compressor housing
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.70 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 79 percent
Maximum turbocharger speed: 165,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G25-660 reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-660 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 660 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band, each with internal wastegate or free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G25 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 165,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
