Why choose the V-band outlet GTX3584RS Super Core?

A V-band joint at the compressor outlet clamps metal to metal, which many builders prefer at high boost because it resists blowing off. This GTX3584RS Super Core, 846098-5002S, has that V-band outlet. The hose outlet version, 846098-5001S, is otherwise the same turbocharger with the same 1000 horsepower rating.

What engines suit the GTX3584RS?

Garrett lists 2.0L to 5.5L and 550 to 1000 horsepower, and calls it the only mid frame turbocharger with that capability. It fits a fully built four, a six, or a small V8 chasing big power in limited space. Garrett derives the rating from compressor choke flow, so it is potential flywheel horsepower.

Which turbine housing do I order with it?

Only a GTX3584RS housing. Garrett lists three, all stainless steel with V-band inlet and outlet and no internal wastegate: 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R. Standard GT35 and GTX35 turbine kits do not fit the RS turbine wheel, so a housing from an older GT3582R cannot be reused.

Is the compressor Gen II?

Yes. Garrett uses Gen II aerodynamics with a ten-blade compressor wheel designed in its simulation software, in a larger 0.72 A/R compressor housing. The inlet, outlet and ported shroud are fully machined, and the rotating group runs on an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge.

What is the safe shaft speed?

Garrett publishes 130,000 rpm as the maximum allowable turbocharger speed for the GTX3584RS. Running faster is at the risk of the owner and can cause damage and premature failure. The compressor housing has a plugged port ready for a Garrett speed sensor, which is sold separately.

Description

Garrett GTX3584RS Super Core, V-Band Compressor Outlet

Garrett’s GTX3584RS Super Core with a V-band compressor outlet is the version to choose when the intercooler piping clamps to the turbocharger with a V-band joint, which holds high boost more securely than a hose and coupler. Garrett rates the GTX3584RS at 550 to 1000 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines, and pairs a 67mm Gen II compressor with its RS turbine wheel in a deliberately compact layout. It suits a tight engine bay chasing four-figure power. A street build that stops around 600 horsepower has easier, cheaper options in the GTX35 Gen II range.

Garrett’s RS Design

Garrett developed the RS turbine wheel for high horsepower and says it flows more efficiently than earlier GT and GTX turbine wheels. It runs in dedicated stainless steel housings, offered in 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R, that are not interchangeable with other GT or GTX35 kits. The compressor side uses a ten-blade Gen II wheel, a 0.72 A/R housing and an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge.

Features

V-band connection at the compressor outlet
Compact design that Garrett sized for tight installations
Plugged speed sensor port machined into the compressor housing

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 6762
Compressor inducer and exducer: 67mm and 84mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Compressor housing A/R: 0.72
Compressor outlet: V-band
Maximum turbocharger speed: 130,000 rpm

Applications

The GTX3584RS Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett lists it for these engines:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 550 to 1000 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GTX3584RS turbine kits: V-band in and out, free float, in 0.83, 1.01 or 1.21 A/R

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; only GTX3584RS housings fit this core
Every GTX3584RS housing is free float and needs an external wastegate
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 130,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
The hose outlet GTX3584RS is also listed

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
