Who should buy the 0.92 A/R G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger?

Builders chasing the top of the G25 power range on a 2.5L to 3.0L engine, or a smaller engine that revs high. This G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger pairs the 54mm compressor with the largest G25 turbine housing, so it gives the most top-end flow Garrett offers in the frame.

What horsepower can the G25-700 support?

Garrett lists 350 to 700 horsepower for engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. That is a potential flywheel figure derived from the choke flow of the compressor map. The 0.92 A/R housing gives the engine the best chance of reaching it, provided fuel, boost and calibration are built to match.

How much lag should I expect from the 0.92 A/R housing?

More than the smaller G25-700 housings. A larger A/R slows exhaust gas into the turbine wheel at low rpm, so boost builds later, then the housing flows freely near redline. On a heavy street vehicle or a small engine the 0.72 A/R usually feels better day to day.

Can I keep this housing if I change the core later?

Yes. G-Series II shares its compressor and turbine housings with the first-generation G-Series, and Garrett offers the G25-700 as a super core and a CHRA. A future rebuild or core change can keep this 0.92 A/R housing and the compressor cover in service.

Do I need an external wastegate?

No. This part number uses an internal wastegate turbine housing with a 0.5 bar actuator calibrated by Garrett, so boost is controlled at the turbocharger. Garrett sells free-float G25 housings for builders who want an external wastegate, but those pair with a super core, not this turbo.

Description

Garrett G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger, 0.92 A/R V-Band Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger in 0.92 A/R form is the most flow-oriented G25 that Garrett sells as a complete unit, pairing its biggest G25 compressor with its biggest G25 turbine housing. The V-band inlet and outlet and internal wastegate come assembled with a 0.5 bar actuator. With Garrett’s rating running from 350 to 700 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines, this is the configuration for an engine trying to reach the top of that range. A low-revving street engine will find it slow to build boost and should look at the 0.72 or 0.49 A/R versions.

Inside the Center Section

The G-Series II center housing and backplate are a single piece, and a shorter bearing cartridge makes room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft. Garrett states that the new turbine wheel flows 15 to 20 percent more than its GTX turbine and reaches a peak efficiency of 74 percent.

Features

Largest compressor and largest turbine housing combination in the G25 frame
V-band turbine inlet and outlet, clockable to suit the manifold and downpipe
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied with the turbocharger

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5449
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.92 A/R, V-band inlet and outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm

What’s Included

G25-700 G-Series II turbocharger with 0.92 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 700 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Also available with 0.49 or 0.72 A/R housings and in reverse rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the added G-Series II flow into power

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should buy the 0.92 A/R G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger? Builders chasing the top of the G25 power range on a 2.5L to 3.0L engine, or a smaller engine that revs high. This G25-700 G-Series II Turbocharger pairs the 54mm compressor with the largest G25 turbine housing, so it gives the most top-end flow Garrett offers in the frame.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
