What comes with the G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger?

This part number is the complete G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger: center section, compressor housing and a 0.72 A/R internal wastegate turbine housing, assembled and calibrated by Garrett with a 0.5 bar actuator. Garrett also includes an oil restrictor and water fittings. Oil lines, coolant lines and the V-band manifold flange are separate.

Is 0.72 the right A/R for my engine?

For most engines in the middle of the rated range it is the sensible choice. The 0.72 A/R housing spools later than the 0.49 T25 version but flows more at high rpm, while the 0.92 A/R suits larger or higher revving engines chasing peak power. Check the choice against the Garrett flow maps.

I already own a G25-550. Should I buy this or a CHRA?

If the G25-550 housings are in good condition, a G25-585 CHRA is the cheaper route. Garrett states that G-Series II reuses the first-generation housings and describes a G25-550 to G25-585 move as a CHRA swap. Buy this complete turbocharger for a new build or a different housing size.

How much horsepower does Garrett quote?

Garrett quotes 300 to 585 horsepower for engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. The number is worked out from the choke flow of the compressor map and stands for potential flywheel horsepower, so real output depends on fuel, boost, intercooling, the exhaust and the calibration.

What does the 4849 reference mean?

Garrett lists 4849 as the frame size reference for the G25-585. It describes a 48mm compressor inducer and a 49mm turbine exducer, a naming style many turbocharger makers use, so the number helps compare this unit with turbos from other brands of similar size.

Description

Garrett G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger, 0.72 A/R V-Band Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger with the 0.72 A/R housing is the middle option of the three standard rotation G25-585 turbos, using V-band joints at the turbine inlet and outlet and an internal wastegate that Garrett calibrates with a 0.5 bar actuator. The 48mm compressor wheel carries Garrett’s G-Series II aerodynamics, and Garrett rates the model at 300 to 585 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. For a 2.0L to 2.5L engine that needs a balance of response and top-end flow this is the housing to start with. It is more turbocharger than a mild bolt-on build can use.

Features

V-band turbine inlet and outlet for a clockable, leak-resistant joint at both ends
Internal wastegate, so the manifold does not need an external gate
Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated by Garrett to 1050C (1922F)
Frame size reference 4849, meaning a 48mm compressor inducer and 49mm turbine exducer

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 4849
Compressor inducer and exducer: 48mm and 60mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.72 A/R, V-band inlet and outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 185,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G25-585 G-Series II turbocharger with 0.72 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 300 to 585 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Also offered with 0.49 A/R T25 or 0.92 A/R V-band housings, in reverse rotation, and as a super core or CHRA
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 185,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
Garrett states that a calibration is required to gain power from the G-Series II compressor

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
