Does the G30-660 Super Core in reverse rotation need an external wastegate?

Yes. Garrett lists only free-float turbine housings for the reverse-rotation G30, in V-band and T3 inlet forms, and none of them has an internal wastegate port. Boost therefore has to be controlled by an external wastegate on the manifold, so plan the exhaust around one before ordering.

How does the G30-660 differ from the G25-660?

Both carry a 54mm compressor wheel and the same 660 horsepower ceiling, but the G30-660 Super Core sits on the larger G30 turbine, 60mm inducer and 55mm exducer against 54mm and 49mm on the G25. Garrett moves the displacement range to 2.0L to 3.5L, so the G30 is the better choice on bigger engines.

What power range is the G30-660 rated for?

Garrett rates it at 350 to 660 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 3.5L. The figure is calculated from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so the engine, fuel system and calibration decide where a given build actually finishes.

Which turbine housing A/R should I pick?

The reverse G30 range runs from 0.61 to 1.21 A/R with a V-band inlet, plus 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet. Smaller A/R values bring boost in earlier and larger values help high-rpm flow. On a 54mm compressor the smaller and middle sizes keep the response this core is chosen for.

What is included and what is not?

The super core arrives as the center housing rotating assembly with the compressor housing fitted, plus the oil restrictor and water fittings Garrett lists for the G30. The turbine housing and the speed sensor kit are separate, and the sensor port in the compressor housing is machined ready for it.

Description

Garrett G30-660 Super Core, 54mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-660 Super Core in reverse rotation is the entry point to the G30 frame for mirrored installs: a 54mm compressor wheel on the larger 60mm G30 turbine, built to spin opposite to a conventional unit. The Garrett rating of 350 to 660 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L suits twin-turbo engines in that displacement range that need each turbocharger to stay responsive. Garrett lists only free-float housings for reverse-rotation G30 cores, so the build must have an external wastegate.

Bearing and Seals

The G30 uses a shorter 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge, which leaves room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft. Garrett pairs that with a one-piece center housing and backplate to reduce potential failure points.

Features

54mm compressor wheel, 65 trim, 79 percent maximum efficiency
60mm Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F)
Fully machined speed sensor and pressure ports
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.70 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 79 percent
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 165,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G30-660 reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-660 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 350 to 660 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 165,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
