What turbine housings work with the G30-660 Super Core?

Garrett lists nine standard-rotation G30 kits. Free-float housings come in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R with a V-band inlet, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R with a T3 inlet, and 1.06 A/R with a divided T4 inlet. Internal wastegate V-band housings come in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R.

Is the G30-660 a ball bearing turbo?

Yes. Garrett specifies an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge for the G30. The cartridge is shorter than before, which made room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft wheel assembly, a change Garrett says reduces the chance of oil passing the seals.

How much power is it good for?

Garrett rates the G30-660 Super Core at 350 to 660 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. The number comes from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so it is a ceiling for the compressor rather than a figure every engine will reach.

Should I choose the G30-660 or the G-Series II G30-725?

Both use a 54mm compressor inducer on the same G30 turbine and housings. Garrett says G-Series II compressor aero flows up to 10 percent more at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed, rated to 725 horsepower with a 160,000 rpm limit. The G30-660 remains a sound choice when the target sits below 650 horsepower.

What is the maximum turbo speed?

Garrett lists 165,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed and warns that operating above it can cause damage and premature failure. The compressor housing has a fully machined speed sensor port; fitting the Garrett sensor kit, sold separately, gives the tuner a direct reading of shaft speed.

Description

Garrett G30-660 Super Core, 54mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G30-660 Super Core is the smallest compressor option in the first-generation G30 frame, a 54mm wheel matched to the 60mm G30 turbine on a standard-rotation center section. Garrett rates it at 350 to 660 horsepower for 2.0L to 3.5L, aimed at engines that want the larger turbine for exhaust flow but do not need a bigger compressor to reach their target. A 2.0L chasing quick response may be better served by a G25; a 3.0L six targeting 600 horsepower is squarely what this core is for.

Compressor and Turbine

Garrett designed the compressor wheel with computational fluid dynamics and quotes 79 percent maximum efficiency for this 54mm version. The Mar-M turbine wheel is rated to 1050C (1922F), and Garrett says it flows about 5 percent more than GTX at a peak efficiency of 74 percent.

Features

8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge with twin piston rings on each side of the shaft
One-piece center housing and backplate
V-band center-to-turbine joint, clockable through 360 degrees with non-wastegated housings
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.70 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 79 percent
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 165,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G30-660 standard rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-660 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 350 to 660 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Standard-rotation turbine kits: Free float in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3, 1.06 A/R T4 divided; internal wastegate in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits for standard rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 165,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
