Does the G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger fit a T25 manifold?

Yes. This G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger uses a T25 inlet flange on the turbine side and a V-band connection at the outlet, so it mounts to a T25 manifold. It is the only T25 option Garrett lists for the G25-585, and the downpipe needs a V-band connection.

How does the G25-585 compare with the G25-550?

Both use a 48mm compressor inducer and a 49mm turbine exducer, but the G25-585 carries the G-Series II compressor aerodynamics. Garrett states that the G25-585 flows 18 percent more than the G25-550. The two share housing designs, so the G25-585 is the like-model upgrade for a G25-550 owner.

What power suits the 0.49 A/R housing?

Garrett rates the model at 300 to 585 horsepower, a figure taken from the choke flow of the compressor map that represents potential flywheel horsepower. The 0.49 A/R housing favors early boost, so an engine fitted with it usually runs in the lower or middle part of that band.

Will I need a new tune?

Yes. Garrett states that a calibration is required to take advantage of the extra compressor flow of G-Series II. Fitting the turbocharger without revising fuel and boost tables leaves power on the table and risks running the engine outside a safe operating window.

Which Garrett speed sensor fits this turbo?

The compressor housing accepts a Garrett speed sensor. Garrett lists the 781328-0001 street kit with gauge, the 781328-0002 pro kit without gauge and the 923586-0002 Bluetooth module. A sensor lets the tuner hold shaft speed under the 185,000 rpm limit Garrett publishes.

Description

Garrett G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger, 0.49 A/R T25 Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger in 0.49 A/R form is the earliest-boosting configuration of the 48mm G-Series II G25, built on a T25-flanged internal wastegate turbine housing that exits through a V-band outlet, with a 0.5 bar actuator set by Garrett. Garrett rates it at 300 to 585 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines and states that it flows 18 percent more than the first-generation G25-550. It suits a 1.6L or 2.0L build on a T25 manifold where response matters more than peak power; an engine aimed at the top of the rating will find the small housing a restriction at high rpm.

Testing

Garrett validates its G-Series II designs with burst containment testing, 1,000-hour engine durability cycles and 500-hour gas stand runs. The turbine wheel is Mar-M alloy rated to 1050C (1922F), and the new compressor aerodynamics give up to 10 percent more flow than the first generation at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed.

Features

T25 turbine inlet and V-band outlet, the only T25 configuration Garrett offers for this model
Internal wastegate housing fitted and set by Garrett with a 0.5 bar actuator
Shares first-generation G25 housing designs, so G25 piping and mounting points carry over

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 4849
Compressor inducer and exducer: 48mm and 60mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.49 A/R, T25 inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 185,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G25-585 G-Series II turbocharger with 0.49 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-585 G-Series II Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 300 to 585 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Turbine inlet: T25 manifold flange

Notes

Garrett also builds the G25-585 with 0.72 or 0.92 A/R V-band housings and in reverse rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 185,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
The engine calibration must be updated to make use of the added compressor flow

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
