What do I receive with the GTX3582R Gen II CHRA?

The center housing rotating assembly: the water cooled center housing, 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge, shaft with the 68mm turbine wheel, and the 66mm Gen II compressor wheel. No compressor housing or turbine housing is included. Garrett sells the GTX3582R Gen II super core with the compressor housing fitted.

How much power can the GTX3582R Gen II make?

Garrett rates the GTX3582R Gen II CHRA at 450 to 900 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 4.5L. Garrett calculates it from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower, so injectors, fuel pressure, boost, intercooling and the calibration decide the final figure.

Can I use my existing GT35 turbine housing?

Yes. Garrett states that all GTX Gen II turbochargers are compatible with all existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits. Garrett lists V-band housings in 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R and T3 or T4 inlet housings in 0.63, 0.82 and 1.06 A/R for this frame.

Why is the speed limit 130,000 rpm?

That is the maximum allowable speed Garrett publishes for the GTX3582R Gen II, lower than the 145,000 rpm of the GTX3576R Gen II. Garrett states that running above it is at the risk of the owner and can cause premature failure, and recommends a speed sensor in the compressor housing to monitor shaft speed.

Will a Gen I GTX3582R compressor housing work?

Garrett states that Gen II compressor housings are not interchangeable with Gen I compressor wheels, and it does not confirm the reverse case. Pair this core with a Gen II compressor housing, or buy the Gen II super core, unless we have confirmed your existing housing first.

Description

Garrett GTX3582R Gen II CHRA, 66mm Compressor

Garrett’s GTX3582R Gen II CHRA is the center section of the GTX3582R Gen II, putting a 66mm Gen II compressor wheel on the 68mm GT35 turbine with an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge in a water cooled center housing. It is sold bare, without compressor or turbine housings. Garrett rates the GTX3582R Gen II at 450 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 4.5L engines, so it suits a built 2.0L to 3.0L chasing 700 horsepower or more, or a small V8. For engines that will stay nearer 600 horsepower, the GTX3576R Gen II will spool sooner and run a higher speed limit.

Gen II Design

Garrett designed the Gen II compressor wheel with computational fluid dynamics for efficiency and mass flow, and states it gives up to 20 percent more horsepower than the previous GTX3582R. The 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge reduces shaft motion for quicker response, and Gen II units are outline interchangeable with their GT and GTX Gen I equivalents.

Features

66mm inducer, 82mm exducer Gen II compressor wheel
8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge in a water cooled center housing
Compatible with all existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits, per Garrett

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 6662
Compressor inducer and exducer: 66mm and 82mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing, water cooled
Maximum turbocharger speed: 130,000 rpm
Matching super core: 851154-5004S

Applications

The GTX3582R Gen II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 4.5L
Power range: 450 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GT35 and GTX35 turbine kits: 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band and 0.63, 0.82 and 1.06 A/R T3 or T4 free float housings in standard rotation; 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band in reverse rotation

Notes

Compressor and turbine housings are not included; the GTX3582R Gen II super core includes the Gen II compressor housing
Garrett states that Gen II compressor housings do not accept Gen I compressor wheels
Garrett states that running above 130,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit fits the machined port in the Gen II compressor housing and is sold separately

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
