Is the G25-700 G-Series II Super Core the same as the complete G25-700 turbo?

It uses the same rotating assembly and compressor, but it ships without the turbine housing and actuator. Garrett sells the complete turbocharger with an internal wastegate housing calibrated with a 0.5 bar actuator; the super core lets the builder pick any standard G25 housing, including the free-float versions for an external wastegate.

How much power can the G25-700 G-Series II make?

Garrett rates the G25-700 G-Series II Super Core at 350 to 700 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines. The upper figure reflects compressor choke flow, which Garrett presents as potential flywheel horsepower. Reaching it takes a fuel system, intercooler and calibration sized for that output.

Can I swap a G25-660 for this core and keep my housings?

Yes. Garrett designed G-Series II to use the first-generation compressor and turbine housings, and it describes the change as a direct upgrade path for Gen I owners. A G25-660 owner can fit the CHRA alone and keep the compressor cover, or buy this super core and keep the turbine housing.

Which turbine housing A/R suits a 2.0L?

Garrett offers standard G25 housings in 0.49, 0.72 and 0.92 A/R. A 2.0L chasing the top of this compressor range will want the flow of the 0.72 or 0.92 A/R, while the 0.49 A/R T25 housing suits a build that values response over peak output. Check the choice against the Garrett turbine flow map.

What maximum speed does Garrett allow?

Garrett sets the maximum allowable speed for the G25-700 at 160,000 rpm, lower than the 185,000 rpm Garrett lists for the 48mm G25-585. Running beyond it is at the risk of the owner. A speed sensor in the compressor housing is the way to monitor it, and Garrett sells the kit separately.

Description

Garrett G25-700 G-Series II Super Core, 54mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G25-700 G-Series II Super Core is the biggest compressor Garrett fits to the G25 frame, a 54mm second-generation wheel and housing on a standard-rotation center section, supplied without a turbine housing. Garrett rates it at 350 to 700 horsepower for 1.4L to 3.0L, so it belongs on a built small-displacement engine where the fuel system and head can support a high target. It is a poor match for a stock-internals daily driver, and a builder who wants an internally gated bolt-on should look at the assembled G25-700 turbocharger instead.

Center Housing

Garrett made the center housing and backplate one piece to remove potential failure points, and shortened the bearing cartridge to fit twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft, which reduces the chance of oil passing the seals. The Mar-M turbine wheel flows 15 to 20 percent more than GTX by Garrett’s figures, with 74 percent peak efficiency.

Features

54mm compressor inducer and 67mm exducer, Garrett frame reference 5449
Up to 10 percent more compressor flow than G-Series Gen I at peak pressure ratio and speed
Compressor housing shares the first-generation contour, so G25 piping carries over
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5449
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G25-700 G-Series II standard rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-700 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 700 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Standard-rotation turbine kits: 0.49 A/R T25, 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band internal wastegate; 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G25 turbine housing kits for standard rotation
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
