Does the G25-585 G-Series II CHRA come with housings?

No. A CHRA is the center housing rotating assembly: the center housing with the shaft, the compressor and turbine wheels and the bearing system. The compressor housing and turbine housing are bought separately or carried over. Buyers who want the compressor housing fitted should choose the G25-585 super core.

Will this CHRA work with my first-generation G25 housings?

Yes. Garrett built G-Series II around the Gen I compressor and turbine housings and describes a CHRA purchase as the direct upgrade path for Gen I owners. An owner with standard-rotation G25 housings can fit this core, keep the existing compressor cover and turbine housing, and then recalibrate for the added airflow.

How much power will the G25-585 G-Series II CHRA support?

Garrett rates the G25-585 G-Series II CHRA at 300 to 585 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L. That figure is calculated from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so fuel delivery, boost target, turbine housing choice and the calibration decide where a given engine lands.

Should I choose the G25-585 or the G25-700?

Choose by target power and response. The G25-585 uses a 48mm compressor inducer and carries a 585 horsepower rating, which favors earlier boost on smaller engines. The G25-700 steps up to a 54mm inducer and a 700 horsepower rating for builds that need more airflow at high rpm and can give up a little response.

Do I need a tune after fitting a G-Series II CHRA?

Yes. Garrett states that a calibration is required to take advantage of the increased compressor flow for a horsepower upgrade. On the old tune the engine keeps its previous boost and fueling targets, so the extra flow goes unused. Garrett also recommends a speed sensor to keep the shaft below 185,000 rpm.

Description

Garrett G25-585 G-Series II CHRA, Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G25-585 G-Series II CHRA is the center housing rotating assembly from the smaller of the two G25 G-Series II turbochargers, carrying a 48mm inducer compressor wheel and a 49mm exducer Mar-M turbine wheel in standard rotation. It comes without compressor or turbine housings, the direct route for a first-generation G25 owner to move to G-Series II and keep the housings. Garrett rates the G25-585 at 300 to 585 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines, so it suits a tuned four-cylinder that values response; builds chasing the top of the G25 range want the G25-700.

Center Section Design

G-Series II moves to a one-piece center housing and backplate, and a shorter bearing cartridge leaves room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft to reduce oil leakage at the seals. The new compressor aerodynamics give up to 10 percent more flow than G-Series Gen I at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed.

Features

Fits first-generation G25 compressor and turbine housings, which share their contours with G-Series II
Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated by Garrett to 1050C (1922F)
Standard rotation, for single-turbo builds

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 4849
Compressor inducer and exducer: 48mm and 60mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 185,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard
Matching super core: 934075-5001S

Applications

The G25-585 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 300 to 585 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G25 turbine kits, standard rotation: 0.72 and 0.92 A/R V-band in external or internal wastegate form, 0.49 A/R T25 internal wastegate

Notes

The compressor housing and turbine housing are not included; Garrett sells this core with its compressor housing fitted as the G25-585 super core
The Garrett speed sensor kit threads into the compressor housing and is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 185,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra G-Series II compressor flow into more power

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
