Who needs the 1.21 A/R reverse G35 Turbine Housing Kit?

Builders of very high output twin-turbo engines where both G35s are pushed hard and turbine flow is the limit. The 1.21 A/R reverse G35 Turbine Housing Kit pairs with standard part 740902-0105. Most twin-turbo street engines will spool far sooner with 0.83 or 1.01 A/R housings.

Will it fit a standard rotation G35 core?

No. Garrett lists it only for reverse-rotation G35 super cores, because the volute feeds a turbine wheel spinning the opposite way to a standard unit. A standard G35 needs the 1.21 A/R V-band housing, part 740902-0105, which is also the housing for the opposite bank of the engine.

How do I control boost with two free-float housings?

With external wastegates, since neither housing has a wastegate port. Twin-turbo manifolds usually carry one gate per bank, sometimes a single gate fed from a crossover pipe. At the flow levels these housings support, gate sizing deserves careful attention, because an undersized gate cannot hold the boost target.

Which reverse G35 cores does it fit?

Garrett lists the reverse-rotation G35-900 and G35-1050 super cores and the G-Series II G35-990 reverse super core. Their maximum turbocharger speeds are 145,000, 130,000 and 140,000 rpm respectively, and a speed sensor, sold separately, lets the tuner monitor both turbochargers.

Does G-Series II change the housing choice?

No. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the same compressor and turbine housings as the first generation, so this housing fits the G35-990 G-Series II reverse core and the Gen I reverse G35-900 and G35-1050 alike. The A/R decision depends on the engine, not the core generation.

Description

Garrett G35 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.21 A/R V-Band Free Float Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G35 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.21 A/R reverse rotation is the largest volute available for a reverse G35 core, a V-band free-float housing in stainless steel. Garrett lists part 740902-0115 for the reverse-rotation G35-900, G35-1050 and G-Series II G35-990. It is a narrow-purpose part for twin-turbo engines that need maximum turbine flow on both banks, such as a large V8 running two G35-1050s for extreme output, mirrored by standard part 740902-0105. For almost every other twin-turbo build, the 0.83 or 1.01 A/R reverse housings will spool sooner and suit better.

Extreme Output Twins

Two G35-1050 cores carry a combined Garrett rating well beyond 2000 horsepower, and at that level exhaust back pressure is a major limit. The 1.21 A/R reverse volute removes as much of it as the G35 range allows, matching the standard 1.21 A/R housing on the other bank. External wastegates handle boost on each side.

Features

Reverse-rotation 1.21 A/R, the largest reverse G35 size
V-band inlet and outlet
Free float for external wastegates
Stainless steel rated to 1050C (1922F)

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0115
A/R: 1.21
Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G35 Turbine Housing Kit for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G35-900 Reverse Rotation: 880696-5001S
Garrett G35-990 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934126-5001S
Garrett G35-1050 Reverse Rotation: 880696-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no internal wastegate
The reverse-rotation G35 super core is sold separately
Reverse rotation only; standard cores take the 1.21 A/R V-band housing, part 740902-0105
Smaller reverse G35 V-band housings are listed down to 0.61 A/R, part 740902-0112

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
