Does the GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit in 0.61 A/R spool faster than the 0.83?

Yes. The 0.61 A/R is the smallest V-band housing Garrett lists for the GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit, so exhaust reaches the turbine wheel faster and boost builds earlier than with the 0.83 or 1.01 A/R. The trade-off is higher backpressure at high rpm on larger engines.

What manifold does it need?

A manifold with a V-band turbine flange and an external wastegate. The 740902-0033 housing is V-band at inlet and outlet and has no internal wastegate. Owners of T3 or T4 manifolds should choose one of the T3 or T4 inlet GTX3582R Gen II kits instead.

Is the GTX3582R Gen II water cooled?

Yes. Garrett lists a water-cooled center housing and a dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge for this core, so the engine needs to supply coolant as well as oil to the turbocharger. Plan coolant feed and return lines alongside the oil feed and drain when laying out the manifold.

Garrett lists the GTX3582R Gen II at 450 to 900 horsepower across engines of 2.0L to 4.5L. The rating is based strictly on compressor choke flow, the total capability of the turbocharger, and represents potential flywheel horsepower rather than a result at the wheels.

What arrives in the kit?

Two separate boxes and a gasket kit: super core 851154-5004S with compressor housing, and turbine housing kit 740902-0033 in 0.61 A/R V-band. Garrett sells them as an assembly kit so the owner can clock the housing to the manifold while joining it to the core.

Description

Garrett GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit, 0.61 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit with the 0.61 A/R V-band housing gives the 66mm GTX35 Gen II core its quickest-spooling exhaust side, combining super core 851154-5004S with GT35R turbine housing kit 740902-0033. Both turbine connections are V-band, and the housing is free float for an external wastegate. Garrett rates the GTX3582R Gen II at 450 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 4.5L engines, and this small housing helps a 2.0L to 2.5L engine on a V-band manifold get the big compressor working early. Builds near 900 horsepower, or engines over 3.0L, outgrow it.

Features

Gen II compressor wheel with a 66mm inducer, which Garrett says supports up to 20 percent more horsepower than Gen I
Fully machined speed sensor port, plugged from the factory and opened with a 5mm Allen key
0.61 A/R free-float housing with V-band joints at both ends, clockable to the manifold and downpipe

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 6662
Compressor inducer and exducer: 66mm and 82mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine housing: 0.61 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate: External (free float)
Bearing system: Dual ceramic ball bearing, water-cooled center housing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 130,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

GTX3582R Gen II super core 851154-5004S with compressor housing
GT35R turbine housing kit 740902-0033, 0.61 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Gasket kit

Applications

The GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 4.5L
Power range: 450 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Manifold requirement: V-band turbine flange with an external wastegate

Notes

Ships as an assembly kit: super core and turbine housing kit in separate boxes, bolted together by the installer
An external wastegate is required, because this turbine housing has no internal wastegate
The GT and GTX version of the Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 130,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
More housing sizes for this core are in the GTX3582R Gen II range

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
