What kind of engine suits the 1.01 A/R reverse G30 Turbine Housing Kit?

A twin-turbo engine large enough to drive two G30 turbochargers hard, such as a V8 aimed high on the G30-900 rating. With that much exhaust per bank, the 1.01 A/R reverse G30 Turbine Housing Kit spools well and lowers back pressure. Smaller twin-turbo engines suit 0.83 A/R better.

Does this housing fit standard rotation G30 cores?

No. It is built and listed for reverse-rotation G30 super cores only, because its volute directs exhaust onto a turbine wheel spinning the reverse way. A standard core needs part 740902-0088, which is the same A/R and flange layout in standard rotation.

What is the maximum shaft speed with this housing?

The limit belongs to the core rather than the housing. Garrett publishes a maximum turbocharger speed for each G30: 165,000 rpm for the G30-660, 160,000 rpm for the G30-725, 150,000 rpm for the G30-770, 140,000 rpm for the G30-825 and 145,000 rpm for the G30-900.

Can I mix G-Series and G-Series II cores in a twin setup?

Garrett does not publish guidance on mixing generations in one twin-turbo system. The housings are shared, so either generation will bolt up, but matching the core model and generation on both banks is the simple way to make two turbochargers behave the same.

Why are there separate reverse housings at all?

A reverse-rotation turbocharger spins its wheels the other way, so the turbine volute has to spiral in the opposite direction. Garrett therefore lists standard and reverse G30 housings under separate part numbers, and each only suits a core of the matching rotation.

Description

Garrett G30 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.01 A/R V-Band Free Float Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.01 A/R reverse rotation is a high-flow V-band volute for reverse-spinning G30 cores, free float in stainless steel. Garrett lists part 740902-0098 for the reverse G30-660, G30-770 and G30-900 and the G-Series II G30-725 and G30-825. It fits twin-turbo engines large enough to drive two G30s hard, such as a V8 in the 4.0L to 5.0L class aiming high on the G30-900 rating, paired with the standard 1.01 A/R part 740902-0088 on the other bank. On a smaller twin-turbo V6 the 0.83 A/R reverse housing will feel livelier.

Large Twin-Turbo Engines

On a big twin-turbo engine each G30 sees enough exhaust to spool a 1.01 A/R housing without much penalty, and the larger volute keeps back pressure down where the engine makes its peak power. The reverse rotation lets the pair mirror each other, and external wastegates on each bank set the boost.

Features

Reverse-rotation 1.01 A/R for high-flow twin builds
V-band connections at both ends
Free float with no wastegate port
Stainless steel rated to 1050C (1922F)

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0098
A/R: 1.01
Turbine inlet and outlet: 3 in (76.2mm) V-band and 3.5 in (90.16mm) V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G30 Turbine Housing Kit for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G30-660 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5001S
Garrett G30-725 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934121-5001S
Garrett G30-770 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5002S
Garrett G30-825 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934121-5002S
Garrett G30-900 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5003S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no wastegate port
The reverse-rotation G30 super core is sold separately
Reverse rotation only; the standard-rotation 1.01 A/R V-band housing is part 740902-0088
Garrett lists the larger 1.21 A/R reverse V-band housing as part 740902-0099

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
