What is the GXR50-76 Super Core best suited to?

Large engines that need a 76.6mm compressor inducer but more turbine flow than the GXR47 offers. Garrett sizes the GXR50-76 Super Core for 2.5L to 11.0L and up to 1750 horsepower. For a smaller engine under the same inducer limit, the GXR47-76 is usually the quicker-spooling choice.

How does it compare with the GTX5020?

Garrett quotes 8 percent more compressor flow for the GXR50-76 than for the GTX5020, along with improved pressure ratio capability and higher efficiency at high flow. The GXR50 also uses a one-piece aluminum center housing and backplate, which Garrett says reduces weight.

What horsepower rating does Garrett give?

Up to 1750 horsepower, within a published range of 500 to 1750 on 2.5L to 11.0L engines. Garrett calculates it from compressor choke flow, which represents potential flywheel horsepower, so the actual result rests on fuel, boost, intercooling and the calibration.

Which turbine housings fit the GXR50?

Garrett lists four G50 housings: 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, each with a T6 inlet, a V-band outlet and an external wastegate layout. The housing is sold separately, so the A/R can be chosen for the displacement and rpm range of the engine.

Why is the speed limit lower than on the GXR47?

Garrett publishes 93,000 rpm for the GXR50 cores, against 102,500 rpm on the GXR47, and the GXR50 carries a larger turbine wheel. Treat 93,000 rpm as a hard ceiling. A speed sensor in the flange-style port, sold separately, lets the tuner confirm the shaft stays under it.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR50-76 Super Core, 76.6mm Inducer, 94mm Turbine

Garrett’s GXR50-76 Super Core keeps the 76.6mm inducer of the GXR47-76 but moves to the larger GXR50 turbine, a 99mm inducer and 94mm exducer wheel, behind a 123mm exducer XBoost compressor. Garrett codes it 7694 and rates it at 500 to 1750 horsepower on engines from 2.5L to 11.0L, quoting 8 percent more compressor flow than the GTX5020. The extra turbine suits a big-displacement engine with a 76.6mm inducer limit that needs more exhaust flow than the GXR47 turbine provides. A smaller engine under the same rule will usually respond better on the GXR47.

Construction

Like the GXR47, the GXR50 uses a one-piece aluminum center housing and backplate for lower weight, and Garrett describes the design as patented. The flange-style port is ready for a speed sensor, and the four G50 housings Garrett lists all have a T6 inlet and V-band outlet.

Features

76.6mm inducer on a 123mm exducer XBoost wheel
99mm by 94mm GXR50 turbine wheel
One-piece aluminum center housing and backplate
Flange-style speed sensor port

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 7694
Compressor inducer and exducer: 76.6mm and 123mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 99mm and 94mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 93,000 rpm
Horsepower rating: Up to 1750 (Garrett rating)

Applications

The GXR50-76 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 11.0L
Power range: 500 to 1750 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G50 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, T6 inlet, V-band outlet, external wastegate

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G50 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 93,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Larger-inducer cores are listed in the GXR50 range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
