Does the G30-900 Super Core include a turbine housing?

No. Garrett supplies the super core as the center housing rotating assembly with the compressor housing attached. For this reverse-rotation version the turbine housing must be one of the six free-float reverse G30 kits, in V-band inlet sizes from 0.61 to 1.21 A/R or T3 inlet sizes of 0.83 and 1.01 A/R.

How much power can a reverse G30-900 support?

Garrett rates the G30-900 Super Core at 550 to 900 horsepower for 2.0L to 3.5L engines. The figure comes from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. It is the top of the first-generation G30 range, so the rest of the engine has to be built to match before that number is realistic.

Should I use a G30-900 or a G35-900 on a twin-turbo engine?

Both carry a 62mm compressor and the same 900 horsepower ceiling. The G35-900 has the larger 68mm G35 turbine and extends the displacement range to 5.5L, while the G30-900 keeps the smaller 60mm turbine for engines up to 3.5L. Smaller engines in a twin-turbo layout generally suit the G30.

Why choose reverse rotation?

Reverse rotation mirrors the turbocharger so the compressor discharge and turbine inlet point the opposite way, which lets twin-turbo engines run symmetrical intake and exhaust plumbing on both sides. If the engine has one turbocharger, choose standard rotation, which also offers a divided T4 housing.

What is the maximum speed for this core?

Garrett publishes a maximum allowable speed of 145,000 rpm for the G30-900 and warns that running above it can cause damage and premature failure. A speed sensor in the compressor housing gives the tuner a direct reading. Garrett sells the sensor kits separately.

Description

Garrett G30-900 Super Core, 62mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30-900 Super Core in reverse rotation carries the 62mm compressor, the largest wheel in the first-generation G30 frame, on a center section that spins opposite to the standard core. Garrett rates it at 550 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. It is aimed at twin-turbo engines built for big numbers from a compact frame, and it needs free-float housings and external wastegates; a single-turbo engine of this size should use the standard-rotation G30-900 or step up to a G35.

Compressor and Efficiency

Garrett quotes 77 percent maximum compressor efficiency for the 62mm wheel, with a 65 trim and 0.72 A/R compressor housing. On the turbine side, the Mar-M alloy wheel is rated to 1050C (1922F) and, by Garrett’s figures, reaches 74 percent peak efficiency.

Features

62mm compressor inducer and 76mm exducer on a reverse-rotation center housing
One-piece center housing and backplate
Twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft wheel assembly
Oil restrictor and water fittings supplied

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.72 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum compressor efficiency: 77 percent
Maximum turbocharger speed: 145,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G30-900 reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G30-900 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 550 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G30 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 145,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
