Which GXR47-76 Super Core should I choose, 116mm or 123mm exducer?

Choose by class and by the map. Garrett names the 116mm core for Ultra Street and names no class for this 123mm core. Both share the 76.6mm inducer, the turbine and the 1700 horsepower rating, so plot the airflow and pressure ratio the engine needs on each compressor map and pick the better fit.

What does a larger exducer change?

In general terms, a larger exducer lets a compressor wheel reach a higher pressure ratio at the same shaft speed, because the tip of the wheel travels faster. Garrett publishes a separate map and an overlay for this 123mm core, so the real difference for this wheel can be read from Garrett data before buying.

How much power is the GXR47-76 rated for?

Garrett gives up to 1700 horsepower and a range of 500 to 1700 on engines from 2.5L to 10.0L, with 12 percent more compressor flow than the G47-1550. The rating is based on compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, not a promise for a particular combination.

Does this core include a turbine housing?

No. The GXR47-76 Super Core is the center section with the compressor housing fitted. Garrett lists four G47 turbine housings for it, 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, all with a T6 inlet and V-band outlet and no internal wastegate, so an external wastegate is part of the build.

Is a speed sensor worth fitting?

Yes. Garrett sets the maximum allowable speed at 102,500 rpm, and operation above that is at the risk of the owner. The flange-style port takes the Garrett sensor, which is sold separately, and the tuner can then log shaft speed against boost on every pull.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR47-76 Super Core, 123mm Compressor Exducer

Garrett’s GXR47-76 Super Core with a 123mm compressor exducer keeps the 76.6mm inducer of the Ultra Street core and pairs it with a larger exducer, the same 123mm size Garrett uses across the GXR50 cores. The turbine is the GXR47 wheel at 93mm by 88mm, the frame code is 7688, and Garrett rates it up to 1700 horsepower, from 500, on engines between 2.5L and 10.0L. Garrett names no race class for this version, so the choice between it and the 116mm Ultra Street core comes down to the compressor maps and the boost target. An Ultra Street car should take the 116mm core that Garrett names for the class.

Features

76.6mm inducer with a larger 123mm exducer
12 percent more compressor flow than the G47-1550, according to Garrett
One-piece aluminum center housing and backplate to reduce weight
Flange-style speed sensor port

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 7688
Compressor inducer and exducer: 76.6mm and 123mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 93mm and 88mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 102,500 rpm
Horsepower rating: Up to 1700 (Garrett rating)

Applications

The GXR47-76 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 10.0L
Power range: 500 to 1700 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G47 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, T6 inlet, V-band outlet, external wastegate

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G47 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 102,500 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
The Ultra Street version with a 116mm compressor exducer is listed separately

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
