Is the 123mm GXR47-80 Super Core the biggest GXR47?

Of the GXR47 cores Garrett lists, the GXR47-80 Super Core with the 123mm exducer pairs the larger inducer with the larger exducer. Garrett gives it the same 1800 horsepower rating as the 116mm version, so the extra exducer shows up in the shape of the compressor map rather than the headline number.

How much power does it support?

Garrett rates it at 500 to 1800 horsepower for engines from 2.5L to 10.0L, with 12 percent more compressor flow than the G47-1650. The rating is derived from compressor choke flow and stands for potential flywheel horsepower. Supporting parts and the calibration decide the real figure.

Should I step up to a GXR50 instead?

Compare the turbines. The GXR50-80 uses the same 80.9mm by 123mm compressor but a larger 99mm by 94mm turbine, rated to 1850 horsepower on engines up to 11.0L. A larger engine with more exhaust flow suits the GXR50, while the smaller GXR47 turbine generally favors quicker response.

What turbine housing and wastegate does it need?

One of the four G47 housings Garrett lists, in 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 or 1.39 A/R, each with a T6 inlet and V-band outlet. They are external wastegate designs, so plan for a manifold with a T6 flange and a separate wastegate. Neither the housing nor the gate comes with the core.

What is the maximum shaft speed for this core?

Garrett lists 102,500 rpm and states that use above it is at the risk of the owner and can cause damage or premature failure. A speed sensor in the flange-style port, sold separately as the Garrett kit, gives the tuner the data to keep the shaft inside that limit.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR47-80 Super Core, 123mm Compressor Exducer

Garrett’s GXR47-80 Super Core with a 123mm compressor exducer pairs the larger GXR47 inducer, 80.9mm, with the larger of the two GXR47 exducer sizes, running against the 93mm by 88mm GXR47 turbine. Garrett codes it 8088 and rates it up to 1800 horsepower, 500 to 1800 across engines of 2.5L to 10.0L. For a builder who wants the GXR47 turbine and T6 housings with the biggest compressor wheel offered on them, this is the one. A smaller engine that needs boost early is better matched to a 76.6mm core, and an engine that has run out of turbine should look at the GXR50-80, which shares this compressor.

Features

80.9mm inducer with a 123mm exducer
XBoost compressor with improved pressure ratio capability
One-piece aluminum center housing and backplate
Flange-style speed sensor port

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 8088
Compressor inducer and exducer: 80.9mm and 123mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 93mm and 88mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 102,500 rpm
Horsepower rating: Up to 1800 (Garrett rating)

Applications

The GXR47-80 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 10.0L
Power range: 500 to 1800 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G47 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, T6 inlet, V-band outlet, external wastegate

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G47 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 102,500 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
A 116mm exducer version of the GXR47-80 is listed separately

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
