Why fit a 0.61 A/R reverse G35 Turbine Housing Kit on a twin turbo build?

Because each turbocharger only receives half the exhaust, and a G35 has a large turbine wheel to spin. The 0.61 A/R reverse G35 Turbine Housing Kit gives the fastest response available for a reverse G35, which suits twin-turbo V6 engines and smaller V8 engines.

Is it compatible with a standard rotation G35?

No. Garrett lists it only for reverse-rotation G35 super cores, because the volute directs exhaust onto a wheel spinning in the reverse direction. The standard-rotation 0.61 A/R V-band housing is part 740902-0102, and that is the one to fit on the opposite bank.

Which reverse G35 cores take the 0.61 A/R housing?

Garrett lists three reverse-rotation super cores: the G35-900, the G35-1050 and the G-Series II G35-990. Their maximum shaft speeds differ, 145,000 rpm for the G35-900, 140,000 rpm for the G35-990 and 130,000 rpm for the G35-1050, so the calibration should respect the core chosen.

What does reverse rotation do?

It spins the compressor and turbine wheels the opposite way, turning the turbocharger into a mirror image of a standard unit. Garrett offers it for symmetrical twin-turbo installations and for single-turbo engines with packaging restrictions that rule out a standard layout.

Is a speed sensor recommended?

Garrett suggests one to protect against overspeed. A sensor installs in the compressor housing to monitor shaft speed, and on a twin setup with small housings it confirms neither turbocharger runs past the limit of its core. The sensor is sold separately.

Description

Garrett G35 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.61 A/R V-Band Free Float Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G35 Turbine Housing Kit in reverse rotation and 0.61 A/R is the quickest-spooling volute for a reverse G35 core, with V-band flanges and no internal wastegate. Garrett lists part 740902-0112 for the reverse-rotation G35-900, G35-1050 and G-Series II G35-990. On a twin-turbo engine each G35 sees only half the exhaust, so a small housing helps two big turbochargers respond, and this one suits a twin-turbo V6 or a smaller V8 wanting G35 power with usable boost onset. On a large V8 chasing the top of two G35-1050 ratings, it will restrict the turbines.

Spooling Two G35s

Each G35 in a twin-turbo system has to bring a 68mm turbine wheel up to speed on half the engine’s exhaust. The 0.61 A/R reverse volute speeds the gas onto that wheel, and it mirrors the standard 0.61 A/R housing, part 740902-0102, on the opposite bank. External wastegates hold boost, and Garrett rates the stainless casting to 1050C (1922F).

Features

Reverse-rotation 0.61 A/R, the smallest reverse G35 size
V-band inlet and outlet
Free float with external wastegate control

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0112
A/R: 0.61
Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G35 Turbine Housing Kit for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G35-900 Reverse Rotation: 880696-5001S
Garrett G35-990 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934126-5001S
Garrett G35-1050 Reverse Rotation: 880696-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no internal wastegate
The reverse-rotation G35 super core is sold separately
Reverse rotation only; the standard-rotation version is part 740902-0102
Reverse G35 V-band housings are also listed in 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
