Is the 0.83 A/R G35 Turbine Housing Kit the right default size?

For most G35 builds between 3.0L and 4.5L, yes. The 0.83 A/R G35 Turbine Housing Kit balances spool against top-end flow for the G35-900, G35-990 and G35-1050. Very small engines may want 0.61 A/R, and large V8 engines chasing the full G35-1050 rating usually step up to 1.01.

Should I choose this or the internally gated 0.83 A/R housing?

Choose this free-float housing if the manifold already carries an external wastegate, or if you want the gate positioned away from the turbocharger. Choose the internally wastegated 0.83 A/R V-band housing, part 740902-0110, if you would rather keep boost control on the turbocharger and simplify the manifold.

Will the housing clock to suit my exhaust?

Yes. According to Garrett, the G-Series center housing joins its non-wastegated turbine housings with a V-band that allows 360 degree orientation. Turn the housing to suit the manifold and downpipe, then tighten the clamp. That flexibility often saves cutting and rewelding the downpipe when a G35 replaces a smaller turbocharger.

Which cores will it fit?

Garrett lists three standard-rotation super cores: the G35-900, the G35-1050 and the G-Series II G35-990. All use the 68mm by 62mm G35 turbine wheel. Reverse-rotation G35 cores and all G30 cores need different housings, because the volute direction or turbine wheel size does not match.

What does the G35 turbine wheel bring?

Garrett states that the G-Series turbine wheel was given all-new aerodynamics, flowing 15 to 20 percent more than GTX with a peak efficiency of 74 percent. It is made of Mar-M superalloy and handles exhaust gas temperatures up to 1050 degrees Celsius, the same rating as this stainless housing.

Description

Garrett G35 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.83 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s G35 Turbine Housing Kit at 0.83 A/R V-band is the middle free-float size for standard-rotation G35 cores and the one that fits the widest range of engines. Garrett lists part 740902-0103 for the G35-900, G35-1050 and G-Series II G35-990. For a 3.0L to 4.5L engine running a G35 toward 900 or 1000 horsepower, it is the place to start, giving reasonable boost onset without choking the top end. Engines at either end of the 2.0L to 5.5L G35 range should consider the 0.61 or the 1.01 A/R instead.

Balanced Sizing

Garrett offers this A/R in V-band and T3 inlet forms, free float and internally gated, and in reverse rotation, which reflects how often 0.83 suits a G35. The V-band inlet suits fabricated manifolds, and Garrett states that the center housing V-band lets its non-wastegated housings be clocked through 360 degrees. Boost control comes from an external wastegate.

Features

0.83 A/R, the balanced G35 size
V-band inlet and outlet for clamp-on fitment
Free float, rotatable on the center housing V-band

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0103

Applications

Garrett lists this G35 Turbine Housing Kit for these standard-rotation super cores, rated from 550 to 1050 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines:

Garrett G35-900: 880695-5001S
Garrett G35-990 G-Series II: 934123-5001S
Garrett G35-1050: 880695-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no internal wastegate
The G35 super core is sold separately
Standard rotation; the reverse-rotation 0.83 A/R V-band housing is part 740902-0113
For an internally gated 0.83 A/R V-band G35 housing, see Garrett part 740902-0110

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
