How does the 0.83 A/R compare with the 0.61 A/R on the GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit?

The 0.83 A/R housing on the GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit flows more exhaust at high rpm and creates less backpressure, so it favors top-end power. The 0.61 A/R reaches boost earlier. Pick the 0.83 A/R for larger displacement or high-rpm use, and the 0.61 A/R for a smaller, response-focused engine.

What horsepower does Garrett quote?

Garrett quotes 340 to 675 horsepower for the GTX3071R Gen II, on engines from 1.8L to 3.0L. The upper figure is derived from the choke flow of the compressor map and stands for potential flywheel horsepower, not a guaranteed dyno result for any one engine.

Is the turbocharger ready to bolt on?

Not until it is assembled. The kit is a super core with compressor housing plus a separate turbine housing kit and gasket kit. Once joined, it still needs a V-band manifold flange, an external wastegate, oil feed and drain lines, and a calibration.

Should I step up to the GTX3076R Gen II?

Consider it if the goal is above roughly 600 horsepower. The GTX3076R Gen II shares the 60mm turbine but uses a 58mm compressor rated by Garrett to 750 horsepower, at the same 1.8L to 3.0L displacement range. For goals well inside 675 horsepower, the smaller GTX3071R compressor is the closer match.

What is the speed limit for this core?

Garrett lists 140,000 rpm as the maximum allowable turbocharger speed for the GTX3071R Gen II and warns that running above it risks damage and premature failure. A speed sensor in the factory-machined port, using the GT and GTX kit sold separately, shows the tuner exactly where the shaft is running.

Description

Garrett GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit, 0.83 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit with the 0.83 A/R V-band housing gives the 54mm GTX30 Gen II core more room on the exhaust side, which helps a 2.5L to 3.0L engine, or a smaller one that revs high, use the upper part of Garrett’s 340 to 675 horsepower rating. Super core 851154-5002S and GT30R turbine housing kit 740902-0035 come in separate boxes with a gasket kit and are assembled by the owner. The housing is free float with V-band joints, so the manifold needs a V-band flange and an external wastegate. For a 1.8L engine that wants early boost, the 0.61 A/R version responds sooner.

Features

Gen II compressor wheel with a 54mm inducer, which Garrett says supports up to 20 percent more horsepower than Gen I
Fully machined speed sensor port, plugged from the factory and opened with a 5mm Allen key
0.83 A/R free-float housing with V-band joints at both ends, clockable to the manifold and downpipe

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5455
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 71mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine housing: 0.83 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate: External (free float)
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

GTX3071R Gen II super core 851154-5002S with compressor housing
GT30R turbine housing kit 740902-0035, 0.83 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Gasket kit

Applications

The GTX3071R Gen II Assembly Kit is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.8L to 3.0L
Power range: 340 to 675 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Manifold requirement: V-band turbine flange with an external wastegate

Notes

Ships as an assembly kit: super core and turbine housing kit in separate boxes, bolted together by the installer
An external wastegate is required, because this turbine housing has no internal wastegate
The GT and GTX version of the Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
More housing sizes for this core are in the GTX3071R Gen II range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
