Is the 0.83 A/R reverse G30 Turbine Housing Kit right for my twin turbo V6?

For many mid-size twin-turbo V6 and V8 builds, yes. Each bank sees half the exhaust, and a 0.83 A/R reverse G30 Turbine Housing Kit balances spool and flow at that level. Smaller engines wanting faster response can drop to 0.61 A/R, while larger engines chasing peak power can step up to 1.01.

Can I buy an internally wastegated reverse G30 housing instead?

No. Garrett lists its internal wastegate G30 housings, 740902-0094 and 740902-0095, for standard-rotation cores only. Every reverse-rotation G30 housing is free float, so a reverse G30 always relies on an external wastegate on the manifold of its bank for boost control, whatever the A/R.

Which part goes on the standard rotation bank?

Part 740902-0087, the standard-rotation 0.83 A/R V-band free-float housing. It has the same A/R and the same V-band inlet and outlet as this part, so both turbochargers see identical exhaust restriction and the pair spools evenly, which keeps boost control and calibration simple.

Will this housing fit a reverse rotation G35?

No. G35 cores use a larger turbine wheel, 68mm by 62mm against the 60mm by 55mm wheel of the G30, and Garrett lists separate G35 housings for them. This part is listed only for reverse-rotation G30 cores, including the G-Series II G30-725 and G30-825.

Can the reverse housing be clocked?

Yes. Garrett states that the G-Series center housing to turbine housing V-band joint allows 360 degree orientation with its non-wastegated housings, and this free-float reverse housing is one of them. That freedom helps line up two mirrored turbochargers with symmetrical manifolds and downpipes.

Description

Garrett G30 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.83 A/R V-Band Free Float Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G30 Turbine Housing Kit for reverse rotation in 0.83 A/R is the middle-size V-band volute for reverse G30 cores, free float and cast in stainless steel. Garrett lists part 740902-0097 for the reverse-rotation G30-660, G30-770, G30-900, G30-725 and G30-825. It is the housing most twin-turbo G30 projects start from, because 0.83 A/R on each bank gives a mid-size V6 or V8 a sensible balance between spool and flow. Builders after the sharpest response on a smaller engine should look at the 0.61 A/R reverse housing, and those on large engines chasing peak power at 1.01.

Building the Pair

A twin-turbo G30 system uses one standard and one reverse turbocharger so the two compressor outlets and turbine inlets mirror each other. This housing is the reverse half of a 0.83 A/R pair, matched with part 740902-0087 on the standard side. Both are free float, so each bank needs external wastegate control.

Features

Reverse-rotation volute at 0.83 A/R
3 in V-band inlet and 3.5 in V-band outlet
Free float, used with external wastegates

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0097
A/R: 0.83
Turbine inlet and outlet: 3 in (76.2mm) V-band and 3.5 in (90.16mm) V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G30 Turbine Housing Kit for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G30-660 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5001S
Garrett G30-725 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934121-5001S
Garrett G30-770 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5002S
Garrett G30-825 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934121-5002S
Garrett G30-900 Reverse Rotation: 880694-5003S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no wastegate port
The reverse-rotation G30 super core is sold separately
Reverse rotation only; standard-rotation G30 cores use part 740902-0087
Garrett offers no internal wastegate G30 housing in reverse rotation

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
