Is the GXR45-82 Super Core the largest GXR45?

Yes. The GXR45-82 Super Core has the biggest inducer Garrett offers on the GXR45, 82.9mm, and the highest rating, up to 1800 horsepower. Beyond that, Garrett moves up to the GXR47 frame, with a larger turbine wheel and T6 inlet housings.

What horsepower does Garrett quote?

Garrett quotes 750 to 1800 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 8.0L. The upper number is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, which is a measure of what the compressor can supply rather than a guaranteed engine output.

Will the GXR45-82 work with my G45-1600 turbine housing?

Yes. Garrett lists the same eight G45 free-float housings for the GXR45-82, in 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R with V-band or divided T4 inlets, and states that G-XRace uses the G-Series turbine housings. Expect to recalibrate for the added airflow.

Will it spool as quickly as a GXR45-76?

No. The larger 82.9mm inducer moves more air at the top end but needs more exhaust energy to build boost. Garrett starts all three 109mm GXR45 cores at 750 horsepower, and the GXR45-76 is the better choice for a lighter or smaller engine.

Do I need a speed sensor and external wastegate?

The external wastegate is required, since every G45 housing for this core is free float. A speed sensor is strongly advised: Garrett sets a 100,000 rpm limit and states that running above it is at the risk of the owner. Both are sold separately.

Description

Garrett G-XRace GXR45-82 Super Core, 82.9mm Inducer, 109mm Exducer

Garrett’s GXR45-82 Super Core is the top of the GXR45 frame, an 82.9mm inducer on a 109mm exducer XBoost compressor wheel, matched to the 89mm by 82mm G45 turbine and coded 8282 by Garrett. It carries the highest GXR45 rating, 750 to 1800 horsepower on 2.0L to 8.0L engines. That makes it the core for an engine that has outgrown a G45-1600 but needs to stay on G45 housings and manifolds. The trade is response: with the largest inducer in the family, it is the slowest of the three 109mm cores to build boost, so a smaller combination belongs on a GXR45-76.

Design

Garrett lists XBoost on this core as patent pending and credits it with improved pressure ratio capability and higher efficiency at high flow. The aluminum backplate saves weight, and a flange-style port is ready for a speed sensor. Garrett publishes a map overlay of the GXR45-82 against the G45-1600.

Features

82.9mm inducer, the largest in the GXR45 family
109mm exducer XBoost compressor wheel
Flange-style speed sensor port
Shares G45 turbine housings for a straightforward upgrade

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 8282
Compressor inducer and exducer: 82.9mm and 109mm
Compressor housing A/R: 0.85
Turbine inducer and exducer: 89mm and 82mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 100,000 rpm

Applications

The GXR45-82 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 8.0L
Power range: 750 to 1800 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G45 1.01, 1.15, 1.28 and 1.44 A/R, V-band or divided T4 inlet, V-band outlet, free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett’s matching G45 turbine housing kits are sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 100,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Smaller-inducer GXR45 cores are listed in the GXR45 range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
