Which trucks does the PowerMax GT4094VA Stage 2 Turbo fit?

It shares the Stage 1 application: Chevrolet and GMC 2500 and 3500 pickups from 2004.5 to 2009 with the 6.6L Duramax. Garrett lists the PowerMax GT4094VA Stage 2 Turbo as outline interchangeable with the original there. An LML truck built from 2011 needs the separate PowerMax part for that engine.

How much more power is Stage 2 rated for?

Garrett estimates 630 horsepower for Stage 2 against 590 for Stage 1, both calculated from the choke flow of the compressor map as potential flywheel horsepower. The gap is modest on paper; the larger turbine matters most on a truck with the fueling to use it.

What is different from the Stage 1?

Stage 2 moves to a 68mm, 52 trim compressor wheel from the 65mm, 48 trim wheel of Stage 1, and to a larger GT40 turbine wheel and vanes with a 77mm inducer. Both keep the 0.58 compressor and 0.90 turbine A/R and the same outline.

Yes. Garrett states that results depend highly on the modifications and tuning or calibration of the truck. A Stage 2 turbo on a stock Duramax calibration and stock injectors has far more capacity than the engine asks for, so plan the fuel and calibration first.

Is it suitable for towing?

Garrett does not rate the turbo for a particular use. It is the bigger of the two Duramax upgrades and is sized for higher power, so a truck that mainly tows on a mild tune is usually better matched to the Stage 1. Talk to your tuner about the target before choosing.

Description

Garrett PowerMax GT4094VA Stage 2 Turbo for 2004.5-2009 Chevrolet and GMC 6.6L Duramax

Garrett’s PowerMax GT4094VA Stage 2 Turbo for the 2004.5-2009 Chevrolet and GMC 2500 and 3500 6.6L Duramax is the larger of Garrett’s two AVNT upgrades for these trucks, with a 52 trim compressor and a larger GT40 turbine wheel and vanes. Garrett estimates 630 horsepower from the choke flow of the compressor map. It belongs on a Duramax with injectors, fueling and a calibration built past what the Stage 1 supports. A towing truck on a mild tune gets less from it than from the Stage 1.

AVNT Design

Garrett’s Advanced Variable Nozzle Turbine uses nine movable vanes for higher turbine efficiency and better performance from idle launch through peak torque. The vanes are moved by integral electro-hydraulic actuation and a proportional solenoid, giving infinitely variable control. Like the Stage 1, the Stage 2 is outline interchangeable with the original turbo.

Features

Larger 52 trim compressor than the Stage 1
GT40 turbine wheel and vanes, larger than the Stage 1 turbine
Nine-vane Advanced Variable Nozzle Turbine with electro-hydraulic actuation
Outline interchangeable with the factory Duramax turbo

Specifications

Turbo model: GT4094VA
Compressor inducer and exducer: 68mm and 94mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 52 trim, 0.58 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 77mm and 68mm
Turbine trim and A/R: 79 trim, 0.90 A/R
Garrett power rating: 630 horsepower

Applications

Garrett lists the PowerMax GT4094VA Stage 2 Turbo for these 6.6L Duramax trucks:

Chevrolet 2500: 2004.5-2009 | 6.6L Duramax
Chevrolet 3500: 2004.5-2009 | 6.6L Duramax
GMC 2500: 2004.5-2009 | 6.6L Duramax
GMC 3500: 2004.5-2009 | 6.6L Duramax

Notes

For lower power targets, Garrett offers the Duramax PowerMax Stage 1 turbo, rated at 590 horsepower
The 630 horsepower figure is an estimate from the choke flow of the compressor map; results depend on modifications and calibration
Garrett publishes adaptor cable instructions and speed sensor kit instructions for this turbo; see Garrett speed sensor kits

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
