What does the GTX2867R Gen II CHRA include?

The center housing rotating assembly: center housing, 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge, shaft with the 54mm turbine wheel, and the 50mm Gen II compressor wheel. Neither housing is part of it. Garrett sells the same core with its Gen II compressor housing fitted as the GTX2867R Gen II super core.

How much power is the GTX2867R Gen II rated for?

Garrett rates the GTX2867R Gen II CHRA at 275 to 550 horsepower on 1.4L to 2.5L engines. The range is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so fuel delivery, boost, turbine housing A/R and the calibration decide the real number.

Will it fit my Gen I GTX2867R compressor housing?

Garrett states that Gen II compressor housings are not interchangeable with Gen I compressor wheels, but does not say whether a Gen II wheel can run in a Gen I housing. Plan on a Gen II compressor housing, or the Gen II super core, unless we confirm the existing housing for you.

Which turbine housings can I use?

Garrett states that all GTX Gen II turbochargers are compatible with existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits. For the GTX2867R it lists four GT28 kits: 0.57 and 0.72 A/R V-band free float housings and 0.64 and 0.86 A/R T25 inlet housings with an internal wastegate.

Do I need a speed sensor?

Garrett recommends one. The maximum allowable speed for the GTX2867R Gen II is 165,000 rpm, and Garrett states running above it is at the risk of the owner. The sensor installs in the machined port on the Gen II compressor housing and is sold separately, giving the tuner shaft speed to work with.

Description

Garrett GTX2867R Gen II CHRA, 50mm Compressor

Garrett’s GTX2867R Gen II CHRA is the center section of the GTX2867R Gen II, with a 50mm Gen II compressor wheel and a 54mm turbine wheel on an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge, sold without housings. Garrett rates the GTX2867R Gen II at 275 to 550 horsepower on 1.4L to 2.5L engines, so it fits a built 2.0L or 2.5L four-cylinder aiming for 450 to 550 horsepower while staying in the compact GT28 outline. It carries more compressor than the GTX2860R Gen II and gives up some low-speed response for it. On a mildly modified engine under 350 horsepower, it is more core than the engine will use.

Gen II Compressor

Garrett designed the GTX Gen II compressor wheels with its own computational fluid dynamics tools and states the update gives up to 20 percent more horsepower than the previous version. The 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge reduces shaft motion for quicker response, and all GTX Gen II turbochargers are compatible with existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits.

Features

8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge
50mm inducer, 67mm exducer Gen II compressor wheel
Works with existing GT and GTX turbine housing kits, per Garrett

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5047
Compressor inducer and exducer: 50mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 47mm
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 165,000 rpm
Matching super core: 849894-5002S

Applications

The GTX2867R Gen II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 2.5L
Power range: 275 to 550 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GT28 turbine kits: 0.57 and 0.72 A/R V-band free float, 0.64 and 0.86 A/R T25 inlet internal wastegate

Notes

Compressor and turbine housings are not included; the GTX2867R Gen II super core comes with its Gen II compressor housing
Garrett states that Gen II compressor housings do not accept Gen I compressor wheels
Garrett states that running above 165,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
