What is the difference between the two G47-1650 Super Core versions?

The compressor exducer. This G4709 version uses a 109mm exducer at 54 trim with a 102,500 rpm limit, while the G4720 version uses a 120mm exducer at 45 trim with a 93,000 rpm limit. Both share the 80mm inducer, the 93mm turbine and a rating of up to 1650 horsepower.

How much power does Garrett rate the G47-1650 for?

Up to 1650 horsepower on 2.5L to 10.0L engines. The figure is calculated from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower. Garrett shows the lower end of the range as both 825 and 925 horsepower, which marks it in either case as a big-engine core.

Does it bolt into a GTX47 Gen II setup?

Yes, in outline. Garrett states the G47 range is outline interchangeable with GTX Gen II turbochargers. The T6 turbine housing outlet is 17mm shorter than on the GTX, so expect to adjust the downpipe or its joint when moving from a GTX47 to a G47 turbine kit.

Which turbine A/R should I choose?

Garrett offers the G47 turbine kit in 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R, all with a T6 undivided inlet, a V-band outlet and an external wastegate requirement. A smaller A/R suits lower displacement and earlier boost, and a larger A/R suits big engines and high rpm where exhaust flow is the limit.

Is a turbine housing included with the G47-1650 Super Core?

No. The G47-1650 Super Core is supplied without a turbine housing, and the exhaust side is one of the four Garrett G47 free-float kits sold separately. The manifold must also carry an external wastegate, since none of those kits has an internal one.

Description

Garrett G47-1650 Super Core, G4709 80mm Inducer 109mm Exducer

Garrett’s G47-1650 Super Core in this G4709 version uses an 80mm inducer, 109mm exducer compressor wheel at 54 trim, the smaller of the two G47-1650 compressor wheels, on the 93mm G-Series turbine. Garrett rates it at up to 1650 horsepower on 2.5L to 10.0L engines and allows it 102,500 rpm. The two versions share the rating and differ in exducer, trim and speed limit, so the choice comes down to which compressor map lays over the engine airflow and boost target better; ask the tuner to compare both before ordering.

Design and Performance

Garrett pairs GTX Gen II compressor aerodynamics with a G-Series turbine wheel that it credits with up to 20 percent more flow and up to 9 percent better spool than the GTX47 Gen II, estimated from flow, efficiency and inertia. A one-piece aluminum center housing and backplate trims weight, and the G47 T6 turbine housing outlet is 17mm shorter than the GTX part.

Features

80mm by 109mm compressor wheel at 54 trim with GTX Gen II aerodynamics
Higher speed limit than the 120mm exducer G47-1650, at 102,500 rpm
Outline interchangeable with GTX Gen II turbochargers

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 80mm and 109mm
Compressor trim: 54
Compressor housing A/R: 0.88
Turbine inducer and exducer: 93mm and 88mm
Turbine trim: 90
Maximum turbocharger speed: 102,500 rpm
Rotation: Standard

Applications

The G47-1650 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.5L to 10.0L
Power range: Up to 1650 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G47 0.96, 1.08, 1.23 and 1.39 A/R free float, T6 inlet and V-band outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett sells the G47 turbine housing kits separately
All four G47 turbine kits are free float, so an external wastegate is required
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 102,500 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
Garrett also builds the G47-1650 with an 80mm by 120mm compressor wheel

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
