Which cores fit the 1.12 A/R GTX55 Turbine Housing Kit?

Garrett lists the 1.12 A/R GTX55 Turbine Housing Kit for all five GTX5533R Gen II cores, 85mm to 98mm, and both GTX5544R Gen II cores, 102mm and 106mm. Garrett also lists it as interchangeable with GT and GTX 5533 and 5544 super cores.

Why choose the 1.12 A/R on a turbocharger this size?

To get boost earlier. A large-frame turbocharger needs plenty of exhaust energy to spool, and the 1.12 A/R volute drives the turbine harder at low flow than the 1.24 or 1.40. It suits smaller engines in the range or builds that cannot afford a late boost curve.

Is there a V-band inlet version of the 1.12 A/R?

No. Garrett lists the 1.12 A/R GTX55 housing only with a T6 inlet. V-band inlet GTX55 housings come in 1.24 and 1.40 A/R, in short outlet and long outlet with cross bolts versions, so a V-band manifold limits the choice to those sizes.

Does it fit the G55 G-Series cores?

Garrett does not list that pairing. The G55 and GXR55 cores use a 106mm exducer G-Series turbine and their own G55 housings, parts 761208-0069 to -0074. This GTX55 housing is listed for the 102mm exducer GTX55 turbine wheel, even though the two turbochargers share an outline.

What maximum speeds apply to the GTX55 cores?

Garrett lists 84,000 rpm for the GTX5533R Gen II and 74,500 rpm for the GTX5544R Gen II. Running above the limit is at the risk of the owner. Garrett sells a speed sensor kit that fits the compressor housing so the tuner can monitor shaft speed.

Description

Garrett GTX55 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.12 A/R T6 Inlet, Free Float

Garrett’s GTX55 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.12 A/R is the smallest exhaust housing Garrett lists for its GTX5533R and GTX5544R Gen II super cores, with a T6 inlet flange, a V-band outlet and a free-float layout. On a turbocharger of this frame the tight volute is what gets boost up at a usable engine speed, so it fits engines toward the 3.0L end of Garrett’s range and builds where response matters. It will hold back a large engine chasing the 2850 horsepower top of the GTX5544R rating, where the 1.24 or 1.40 A/R is the better choice.

GTX55 Gen II Cores

The GTX5533R Gen II cores run compressors from 85mm to 98mm and the GTX5544R Gen II cores 102mm and 106mm, all on a 112mm inducer, 102mm exducer turbine wheel. Garrett rates them from 1000 to 2850 horsepower, calculated from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower.

Features

Smallest of the GTX55 A/R sizes, for the earliest boost
T6 inlet flange and V-band outlet
Free float, for an external wastegate
The GTX55 Turbine Housing Kit also fits earlier GT and GTX 5533 and 5544 cores

Specifications

Garrett part number: 761208-0015
A/R: 1.12
Turbine inlet and outlet: T6 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Divided inlet: No
Turbine wheel: 112mm inducer, 102mm exducer

Applications

Garrett lists this GTX55 Turbine Housing Kit for these super cores:

Garrett GTX5533R Gen II super cores: 851285-5001S to 851285-5005S (85mm to 98mm)
Garrett GTX5544R Gen II super cores: 851285-5021S (102mm) and 851285-5022S (106mm)
Also interchangeable with: GT and GTX 5533 and 5544 super cores
Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L

Notes

Turbine housing only; the GTX55 Gen II super core is sold separately
An external wastegate is required, because the housing has no internal wastegate
Larger T6 sizes are 1.24 A/R and 1.40 A/R

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
