Does the G42-1325 G-Series II CHRA come with housings?

No. It is the center housing rotating assembly only, made up of the one-piece center housing and backplate, the bearing cartridge, the shaft with its turbine wheel and the 73mm compressor wheel. The compressor housing and turbine housing are bought separately, or kept from a first-generation G42.

How much horsepower will the G42-1325 support?

Garrett rates the G42-1325 G-Series II CHRA at 475 to 1,325 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 7.0L. Garrett calculates the rating from compressor choke flow and presents it as potential flywheel horsepower, so the outcome rests on fuel, boost, turbine housing A/R and the calibration.

What is the difference between the G42-1325 and the G42-1325C?

Garrett lists them as two models with their own CHRA and super core part numbers and the same published wheel sizes, power rating and speed limit. Garrett does not describe the difference on its product pages, so match the CHRA to the version already on the engine and confirm with us before ordering.

Which turbine housings does Garrett list for the G42?

Six kits, all for an external wastegate: 1.01, 1.15 and 1.28 A/R housings, each available with a V-band inlet or a divided T4 inlet and a V-band outlet. The stainless steel G-Series turbine housings are rated by Garrett to 1050 degrees Celsius.

Do I need a speed sensor and a tune?

Both are strongly advised. Garrett states that a calibration is required to use the increased compressor flow, and it sets the maximum allowable speed for the G42 at 120,000 rpm. A speed sensor in the compressor housing, sold separately, gives the tuner the shaft speed needed to stay under that limit.

Description

Garrett G42-1325 G-Series II CHRA, 73mm Compressor

Garrett’s G42-1325 G-Series II CHRA is the standard-outline center section for the G42 frame, with a 73mm compressor inducer and an 82mm inducer turbine wheel, sold without housings. Garrett rates the G42-1325 at 475 to 1,325 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 7.0L, so it is built for large V8 and big six-cylinder engines making well over 1,000 horsepower on a single turbocharger. Below roughly 800 horsepower the turbine is larger than the engine can drive well, and a G35 or G40 core is the better tool. Owners running a first-generation G42 can move to G-Series II with this core and their current housings.

What G-Series II Brings

Garrett states the new compressor aerodynamics give up to 10 percent more flow than G-Series Gen I at peak pressure ratio and peak turbo speed, with increased efficiency at high flow rates. The one-piece center housing and backplate cut the number of failure points, and twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft reduce the chance of oil leakage at the seals.

Features

73mm compressor inducer on a 91mm exducer, trim 65
82mm inducer, 75mm exducer turbine wheel, trim 84
V-band joint between center housing and turbine housing allows 360 degree orientation

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 73mm and 91mm
Compressor trim: 65
Turbine inducer and exducer: 82mm and 75mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum turbocharger speed: 120,000 rpm
Matching super core: 938339-5002S

Applications

The G42-1325 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 7.0L
Power range: 475 to 1,325 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G42 turbine kits: 1.01, 1.15 and 1.28 A/R external wastegate housings with V-band inlets or divided T4 inlets, all with V-band outlets

Notes

Compressor and turbine housings are not included; the G42-1325 super core comes with its compressor housing
Garrett lists only external wastegate G42 turbine kits, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that running above 120,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
This is the standard G42-1325; the G42-1325C Compact CHRA is a separate part number

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
