Should I choose the T6 or V-band inlet 1.24 A/R G55 Turbine Housing Kit?

Choose by manifold. This G55 Turbine Housing Kit bolts to a T6 flange, while part 761208-0069 clamps to a V-band collector. Everything else, from the 1.24 A/R and stainless casting to the core list and free-float layout, is the same, so the flange on the manifold decides it.

Is 1.24 A/R too big for my engine?

It can be on a small engine. The 1.24 A/R is meant for larger displacement or high-rpm use, where lower backpressure lets the engine make power. A 3.0L class engine will usually reach boost sooner with the 1.00 or 1.12 A/R T6 housing.

Is this housing listed for the G55-2650 and G55-2900?

Yes. Garrett lists the same six G55 turbine housings for every G55 core, including the 102mm G55-2650 and the 106mm G55-2900, and for the GXR55 range. The larger compressor cores make most sense with the 1.24 or 1.40 A/R, which let a big engine breathe at high rpm.

Does it include gaskets or a clamp?

Garrett does not publish what ships in its G55 turbine kits. Plan for a T6 inlet gasket and fasteners and an outlet V-band clamp to suit the downpipe, and ask Bulletproof Automotive to confirm current kit contents when ordering, so the install is not held up waiting on small parts.

Can the housing be clocked?

The V-band outlet lets the housing rotate relative to the downpipe joint, and the turbine housing can be clocked against the center housing during assembly. Final orientation is set by the T6 manifold flange, so plan the oil drain angle before welding the manifold.

Description

Garrett G55 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.24 A/R T6 Inlet, Free Float

Garrett’s G55 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.24 A/R with a T6 inlet is the bolted-flange version of the most versatile G55 size, matching the many large-frame manifolds that end in a T6 flange. With a stainless casting, a V-band outlet and a free-float layout, it suits big engines running a G55 or GXR55 core where flow at high rpm matters more than the last bit of spool. It is more housing than a small engine wants; the 1.00 or 1.12 A/R will get boost up sooner there. Builders with a V-band collector should choose part 761208-0069 instead.

Where 1.24 A/R Fits

Garrett ratings for the cores this housing serves run from 1000 horsepower on the G55-1850 to 2900 on the G55-2900, on engines from 3.0L to 12.0L, each figure based on compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower. The 1.24 A/R sits in the upper half of the T6 sizes, aimed at the larger engines in that range.

Features

T6 inlet flange for common large-frame manifolds
1.24 A/R, the larger of the two middle sizes in the G55 range
V-band outlet for a clamped downpipe joint
Stainless G55 Turbine Housing Kit, free float for an external wastegate

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
