Can the G42-1325 G-Series II Super Core replace my G42-1200?

Yes. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the Gen I compressor and turbine housings and offers a direct upgrade path for Gen I owners. Owners who want to keep their current compressor housing can buy the G42-1325 CHRA instead, while this super core arrives with its own compressor housing fitted.

How much power will the G42-1325 support?

Garrett lists it at up to 1325 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 7.0L. The figure is calculated from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower, so fuel system, boost target, turbine housing and the calibration decide the result on a given engine.

Do I need a new tune after fitting a G-Series II core?

Yes, to gain anything. Garrett states that a calibration is required to take advantage of the increased compressor flow for a horsepower upgrade. Fitted with the old calibration, the G42-1325 G-Series II Super Core will run, but the extra flow it was bought for is left unused.

Is a turbine housing included?

No. The turbine side is chosen from the six Garrett G42 kits, in 1.01, 1.15 or 1.28 A/R with either a V-band inlet or a T4 divided inlet. All six are external wastegate designs with a V-band outlet, so the manifold needs a provision for a separate wastegate.

What is the maximum speed of the G42-1325?

Garrett gives 120,000 rpm as the maximum allowable turbocharger speed. Above that, operation is at the risk of the owner and can lead to damage and premature failure. A speed sensor mounted in the compressor housing lets the tuner log shaft speed, and Garrett sells the sensor separately.

Description

Garrett G42-1325 G-Series II Super Core, 73mm Compressor

Garrett’s G42-1325 G-Series II Super Core is the second-generation 73mm G42, with new compressor aerodynamics that Garrett says give up to 10 percent more flow than G-Series Gen I at peak pressure ratio and peak turbo speed. Garrett rates it at up to 1325 horsepower on 2.0L to 7.0L engines, 125 more than the Gen I G42-1200. It is the sensible buy for a new G42 build, and a CHRA-level upgrade for a G42-1200 owner who keeps the existing housings; without a recalibration the extra flow goes unused.

What Changed in G-Series II

A one-piece center housing and backplate cut potential failure points, and a shorter bearing cartridge leaves room for twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft. The Inconel turbine wheel uses new G-Series aerodynamics, which Garrett quotes at 15 to 20 percent more flow than GTX and up to 74 percent peak efficiency.

Features

Uses the G-Series Gen I compressor and turbine housings, so G42 piping and kits carry over
Increased efficiency at high flow rates, according to Garrett
Pairs with stainless steel G42 turbine kits rated by Garrett to 1050C (1922F)

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 73mm and 91mm
Compressor trim: 65
Compressor housing A/R: 0.90
Turbine inducer and exducer: 82mm and 75mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum turbocharger speed: 120,000 rpm

What’s Included

G42-1325 G-Series II super core with compressor housing fitted
Water fittings

Applications

The G42-1325 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 7.0L
Power range: Up to 1325 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G42 1.01, 1.15 and 1.28 A/R free float, each with a V-band inlet or a T4 divided inlet and a V-band outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett sells the G42 turbine housing kits separately
All six G42 turbine kits are free float, so an external wastegate is required
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 120,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power
Owners keeping a Gen I compressor housing can buy the G42-1325 CHRA instead

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
