Which cores does the 1.00 A/R G55 Turbine Housing Kit fit?

Garrett lists the 1.00 A/R G55 Turbine Housing Kit for all seven G-Series G55 cores, from the G55-1850 to the G55-2900, and for the G-XRace GXR55-88, GXR55-91, GXR55-94 and GXR55-98, including the map groove GXR55-88 versions. They share one turbine wheel.

Why choose the smallest G55 housing?

For response. The 1.00 A/R volute speeds exhaust gas into the turbine, so boost builds earlier than with the larger G55 housings. That suits smaller displacement or a build that has to drive well off the line. The trade is more backpressure at high rpm on a large engine.

Does this housing need an external wastegate?

Yes. Garrett lists every G55 housing as free float, so there is no internal wastegate and boost control comes from an external wastegate on the exhaust manifold. On a turbocharger of this size the gate usually needs a large valve to pass enough exhaust.

Is it a T6 or V-band inlet?

This version has a T6 inlet flange and a V-band outlet. Garrett offers T6 inlet G55 housings in 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R, while V-band inlet versions come only in 1.24 and 1.40 A/R, so the 1.00 A/R is a T6-only choice.

What is the G55 housing made from?

Stainless steel. Garrett states that its G55 turbine kits are stainless steel and sold individually. Stainless keeps its shape and resists scaling under the sustained heat a large engine makes, which helps the housing keep sealing at its flanges over time.

Description

Garrett G55 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.00 A/R T6 Inlet, Free Float

Garrett’s G55 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.00 A/R is the tightest exhaust housing Garrett lists for its G55 and G-XRace GXR55 super cores, a stainless free-float housing with a T6 inlet flange and V-band outlet. On a turbocharger this size the smallest volute is what keeps boost arriving at a usable rpm, so it suits engines toward the 3.0L end of Garrett’s 3.0L to 12.0L range and builds where a G55 has to respond, not just make peak power. On a large V8 aimed at the top of the G55-2900 rating it will become a restriction, and the 1.24 or 1.40 A/R is the better buy.

The G55 Turbine Side

Every G55 and GXR55 core shares a 112mm inducer, 106mm exducer turbine wheel, and Garrett states the G55 turbine flows 15 percent more than the GTX design it follows. Garrett sells the stainless turbine kits individually so the builder can match the A/R and inlet flange to the engine and manifold.

Features

Smallest A/R in the G55 range, for the earliest boost from a large-frame turbocharger
T6 inlet flange and V-band outlet
Free-float layout for external wastegate control
One G55 Turbine Housing Kit covers eleven Garrett G55 and GXR55 cores

Specifications

Garrett part number: 761208-0071
A/R: 1.00
Turbine inlet and outlet: T6 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Turbine wheel: 112mm inducer, 106mm exducer
Material: Stainless steel

Applications

Garrett lists this G55 Turbine Housing Kit for these super cores:

Garrett G-Series G55 super cores: G55-1850, G55-1950, G55-2100, G55-2250, G55-2450, G55-2650 and G55-2900
Garrett G-XRace GXR55 super cores: GXR55-88 including its 0.18 in and 0.25 in map groove versions, GXR55-91, GXR55-94 and GXR55-98
Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L
Power ratings of those cores: 1000 to 2900 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

The G55 super core is sold separately; this kit is the turbine housing only
An external wastegate is required, because the housing has no internal wastegate
Garrett also lists 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R T6 housings and 1.24 and 1.40 A/R V-band inlet housings for the same cores

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
