What oil supply does the G55-2100 Super Core need?

Garrett recommends a restrictor with a 0.040 inch orifice for the G55-2100 Super Core in most cases, 40 to 45 psi of oil pressure at maximum engine speed and a -3AN or -4AN feed line. Verify the pressure after the restrictor, and use an oil filter that meets or exceeds OEM specification.

How much horsepower will a G55-2100 support?

Garrett rates it at 1000 to 2100 horsepower on engines between 3.0L and 12.0L. The figure is based strictly on choke flow from the compressor map and stands for potential flywheel horsepower. Fuel delivery, boost, turbine A/R and calibration decide the outcome on a particular engine.

Is the 0.96 A/R compressor housing different from the smaller G55 cores?

Yes. Garrett lists a 0.88 A/R compressor housing on the 85mm and 88mm G55 cores, and 0.96 A/R from this 91mm core upward. The compressor housing comes fitted to the super core, so the A/R is set by the model and does not need to be chosen separately.

Which turbine housings fit?

Six Garrett G55 kits, all stainless steel and free float: 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a T6 inlet, plus 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with a V-band inlet. Each has a V-band outlet. The housing is sold individually, and an external wastegate is required with any of them.

What is the maximum shaft speed?

Garrett gives 84,000 rpm as the limit for the G55-2100. Running above it is at the risk of the owner and can result in damage and premature failure, so Garrett suggests fitting a speed sensor to the compressor housing and holding the core under that figure during tuning.

Description

Garrett G55-2100 Super Core, 91mm Inducer 0.96 A/R Compressor Housing

Garrett’s G55-2100 Super Core is the first G55 to move to a 0.96 A/R compressor housing, carrying a 91mm inducer and 133mm exducer wheel over the shared 112mm G-Series turbine. Garrett rates it at 1000 to 2100 horsepower on 3.0L to 12.0L engines, which places it in the middle of the seven-size G55 range. It is aimed at engines with the displacement and fuel to clear 2000 horsepower; a build planning to stop at 1500 gives up response for compressor it will not use.

Rotating Assembly

A 16mm ceramic dual ball bearing cartridge with steel cages carries the shaft inside a one-piece, air-cooled aluminum center housing. Garrett states the redesigned G-Series turbine wheel increases flow by up to 15 percent over GTX, and the stainless steel turbine kits are sold individually.

Features

91mm compressor inducer in a 0.96 A/R compressor housing
Keeps the oil inlet and outlet specifications of earlier GTX designs
Outline interchangeable with GTX Gen II turbochargers

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 91mm and 133mm
Compressor housing A/R: 0.96
Turbine inducer and exducer: 112mm and 106mm
Turbine trim: 90
Bearing system: 16mm ceramic dual ball bearing, steel cages
Maximum turbocharger speed: 84,000 rpm

Applications

The G55-2100 Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 3.0L to 12.0L
Power range: 1000 to 2100 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett turbine kits: G55 1.00, 1.12, 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with T6 inlet, or 1.24 and 1.40 A/R with V-band inlet, all free float with a V-band outlet

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett sells the G55 turbine housing kits separately
All six G55 turbine kits are free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett recommends a -3AN or -4AN oil feed, a restrictor with a 0.040 inch orifice in most cases, and 40 to 45 psi of oil pressure at maximum engine speed
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 84,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can result in damage and premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
