What is included with the GT2554R Ball Bearing CHRA?

The center housing rotating assembly only: the water cooled center housing, ball bearing system, shaft with the turbine wheel and the compressor wheel. The compressor housing, turbine housing and wastegate actuator are not included. Garrett sells those together as the complete GT2554R turbocharger.

How much power is the GT2554R rated for?

Garrett rates the GT2554R at 170 to 270 horsepower on 1.4L to 2.2L engines. Garrett calculates the figure from compressor choke flow and presents it as potential flywheel horsepower, so the real number depends on fuel, boost, intercooling and the calibration of the engine.

Is this a GT2554R or a GT2560R core?

This part is supplied as a GT2554R standard rotation CHRA, and the listing uses Garrett GT2554R data. Some sellers describe the same part number as a GT2560R or GT2860R core, and Garrett does not list it on either page. Check the part number against your turbocharger before ordering.

Why choose a ball bearing core?

Garrett describes the GT2554R as its smallest ball bearing configuration with a water cooled center housing. On small engines a ball bearing core generally comes up to speed sooner than a journal bearing core, which is the reason to choose the GT2554R Ball Bearing CHRA over a GT2252 rebuild.

Will it fit my existing GT2554R housings?

It is the GT2554R center section in standard rotation, so it is intended for GT2554R compressor and turbine housings. Garrett does not publish separate GT25 housing kits on its GT2554R page, so most buyers fit it into the housings of an existing GT2554R turbocharger.

Description

Garrett GT2554R Ball Bearing CHRA, Standard Rotation

Garrett’s GT2554R Ball Bearing CHRA is the standard-rotation center section for the GT2554R, the turbocharger Garrett describes as its smallest ball bearing configuration. It carries the GT2554R wheel set, a 42mm compressor inducer and a 53mm turbine inducer, in a water cooled center housing, without compressor or turbine housings. Garrett rates the GT2554R at 170 to 270 horsepower on 1.4L to 2.2L engines, so the core suits a small four-cylinder where quick response matters more than peak power, or a tired GT2554R that needs a fresh rotating assembly. It is the wrong choice for an engine aimed past 300 horsepower.

Features

Ball bearing center section, water cooled
42mm compressor inducer and 54mm exducer, original GT Series aerodynamics
53mm inducer, 42mm exducer turbine wheel with a trim of 62

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 42mm and 54mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 53mm and 42mm
Turbine trim: 62
Bearing system: Ball bearing, water cooled
Rotation: Standard

Applications

The GT2554R Ball Bearing CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 2.2L
Power range: 170 to 270 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Compressor and turbine housings are not included; Garrett sells the complete GT2554R turbocharger with housings and actuator
Garrett does not list this CHRA part number on its GT2554R page; match it to the CHRA in your turbocharger or confirm with Bulletproof Automotive before ordering
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett does not publish a maximum turbocharger speed for the GT2554R

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
