What housings fit the G35-990 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation?

Garrett lists six reverse-rotation G35 kits, every one free float with a V-band outlet. Inlet choices are V-band in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R, or T3 in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R. Standard-rotation housings cannot be used; Garrett states the two rotations are not interchangeable.

How much power is the G35-990 G-Series II Super Core rated for?

Garrett rates the G35-990 G-Series II Super Core at 550 to 990 horsepower for 2.0L to 5.5L engines. Garrett calculates it from compressor choke flow, meaning potential flywheel horsepower, and states that the second-generation flow needs a calibration before it turns into power.

Is a reverse G35-990 CHRA available?

Yes, Garrett part 934125-5001S is the reverse-rotation G35-990 CHRA, without the compressor housing. An owner who already has a reverse G35 compressor cover can use it, since the contour is shared with the first generation. For a fresh installation, this super core supplies the compressor housing as well.

Why would a build need reverse rotation?

A mirrored pair of turbochargers lets a twin-turbo engine run symmetrical intake and exhaust routing, with one standard and one reverse unit. That is the main reason to choose reverse rotation, and a single-turbo engine should use the standard G35-990, which also opens up internal wastegate and divided T4 housings.

What maximum speed should I respect?

Garrett lists 140,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed for the G35-990 and states that running above it is at the risk of the owner. Garrett speed sensor kits, sold separately, fit the compressor housing and show live shaft speed, which matters on a pair of turbochargers sharing one calibration.

Description

Garrett G35-990 G-Series II Super Core, 62mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G35-990 G-Series II Super Core in reverse rotation brings the second-generation 62mm compressor to mirrored G35 installs, with the center section built to turn opposite to the standard unit. Garrett rates it at 550 to 990 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 5.5L. It suits twin-turbo six-cylinder and V8 builds that run external wastegates, since Garrett lists only free-float housings for reverse G35 cores; it is not the part for a single-turbo engine.

Upgrade Path

Because G-Series II uses the first-generation compressor and turbine housings, a twin-turbo engine already running reverse G35-900 cores can move to this one without changing housings. Garrett notes that a calibration is required to take advantage of the increased flow.

62mm G-Series II compressor wheel on a reverse-rotation center housing
68mm Mar-M super alloy turbine wheel, 74 percent peak efficiency
One-piece center housing and backplate with twin piston rings
Oil restrictor and water fittings included

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 trim, 0.72 A/R
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine trim: 84
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G35-990 G-Series II reverse rotation super core with compressor housing fitted
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G35-990 G-Series II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 550 to 990 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Reverse-rotation turbine kits: Free float only, in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3

Notes

The turbine housing is not included; Garrett lists G35 turbine housing kits in reverse rotation
Every turbine housing Garrett lists for this core is free float, so an external wastegate is required
Garrett states that reverse-rotation turbine housings are not interchangeable with standard-rotation housings
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
A calibration is required to turn the extra compressor flow into more power

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
