Is the 1.15 A/R V-band G45 Turbine Housing Kit a good all-round choice?

For many single-scroll builds, yes. The 1.15 A/R G45 Turbine Housing Kit sits one step above the smallest size, so it still responds well on mid-size engines while easing backpressure. Engines aimed at maximum power should compare it with the 1.28 and 1.44 A/R housings.

Which GXR45 cores fit this housing?

All five. Garrett lists the GXR45-67, 934173-5003S, the GXR45-73, 934173-5004S, and the GXR45-76, GXR45-80 and GXR45-82, parts 952766-5001S, 952766-5004S and 952766-5005S. Each uses the same 89mm by 82mm turbine wheel as the G45 cores, and Garrett states the GXR45 range uses the same turbine housings as the G-Series.

Is the housing stainless steel?

Yes. Garrett offers G45 turbine housings in stainless steel and rates the housings used on its G-Series II G45-1610 up to 1050C, which is 1922F. Exhaust temperature should still be monitored during tuning to protect the turbine wheel and the rest of the hot side.

Does the kit include the compressor housing?

No. The compressor housing is part of the super core, together with the center section and rotating assembly. This kit covers only the turbine housing, so the builder can choose between the G45 family cores and keep this exhaust side through later upgrades.

What does Garrett say about its horsepower ratings?

Garrett calculates its ratings from the choke flow of the compressor map, so they represent potential flywheel horsepower rather than a guaranteed result. For the cores that fit this housing the ratings run from 725 to 1800 horsepower, and fuel, boost and calibration decide where an engine lands.

Description

Garrett G45 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.15 A/R V-Band Inlet and Outlet

Garrett’s G45 Turbine Housing Kit in the 1.15 A/R V-band version is a sensible single-scroll starting point for the G45 frame: stainless steel, clamped V-band joints at both ends and external wastegate control. It fits the G45-1475, G45-1500, G45-1600, G-Series II G45-1610 and all five GXR45 cores. Engines in the middle of the 2.0L to 8.0L range Garrett quotes, or smaller engines at very high boost, suit this size. It trades a little response against the 1.01 for steadier flow at high rpm, and it does not suit a divided twin-scroll manifold.

Features

Clamped V-band inlet and outlet
External wastegate layout with no internal flapper
1.15 A/R, the second V-band size in the G45 Turbine Housing Kit range

Specifications

Garrett G45-1500: 888169-5005S super core
Garrett G45-1600: 888169-5006S super core
Garrett G45-1610 G-Series II: 938339-5004S super core, 938338-5004S CHRA
Garrett GXR45-67 G-XRace: 934173-5003S super core

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G45 or GXR45 super core is sold separately
Garrett publishes a maximum turbocharger speed for each core, from 100,000 rpm on the G45-1500, GXR45-76, GXR45-80 and GXR45-82 to 120,000 rpm on the G-Series II G45-1610; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Other A/R sizes and divided T4 versions are under G45 turbine housings
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
