Will the 1.01 A/R G35-990 G-Series II Turbocharger feel laggy?

On a small or low revving engine, yes, boost will arrive later than with the 0.83 A/R version. On a 4.0L to 5.5L engine, or one that revs high, the G35-990 G-Series II Turbocharger with this housing pays that back with lower back pressure and more flow at the top end.

What is the G35-990 power rating?

Garrett rates the G35-990 at 550 to 990 horsepower on 2.0L to 5.5L engines. The figure is taken from the choke flow of the compressor map and represents potential flywheel horsepower, and the 1.01 A/R housing is the version better suited to approaching the top of it.

Is the actuator set from the factory?

Yes. Garrett assembles the G35-990 turbo and calibrates the internal wastegate with a 0.5 bar actuator. Running more boost than the spring baseline is handled by a boost controller and the engine calibration rather than by swapping the actuator. Garrett includes an oil restrictor and water fittings with the turbocharger.

Does Garrett offer a reverse rotation G35-990?

Garrett lists the G35-990 super core and CHRA in reverse rotation, along with reverse rotation free-float G35 turbine housings. The complete internal wastegate turbos in its table, including this one, are standard rotation, so a mirrored twin build is assembled from the reverse super core.

Do I need a new calibration?

Yes. Garrett states that a calibration is required to take advantage of the increased G-Series II flow, and a turbocharger change of this scale alters fueling and boost control throughout the rev range. Plan the tune as part of the installation.

Description

Garrett G35-990 G-Series II Turbocharger, 1.01 A/R V-Band Internal Wastegate

Garrett’s G35-990 G-Series II Turbocharger with the 1.01 A/R housing is the high-flow complete G35-990, with V-band turbine connections, an internal wastegate and a 0.5 bar actuator calibrated by Garrett. Garrett’s rating covers 550 to 990 horsepower on engines of 2.0L to 5.5L. The 1.01 A/R housing gives a 4.0L to 5.5L engine, or a high revving smaller build, the exhaust flow to reach the upper part of that rating. Owners who need boost early on a heavy vehicle will get more from the 0.83 A/R version.

Features

1.01 A/R internal wastegate housing for lower back pressure near redline
V-band inlet and outlet joints that clock to suit the manifold and downpipe
Mar-M alloy turbine wheel and stainless steel housing, rated by Garrett to 1050C (1922F)
Oil restrictor and water fittings in the box

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim and A/R: 65 and 0.72
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine housing: 1.01 A/R, V-band inlet and outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

G35-990 G-Series II turbocharger with 1.01 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G35-990 G-Series II Turbocharger is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 550 to 990 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

A 0.83 A/R version is available for quicker response
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
Garrett lists free-float G35 housings from 0.61 to 1.21 A/R for external wastegate builds on the super core

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
