Is the 0.95 A/R V-band G40 Turbine Housing Kit a safe middle choice?

For most single-scroll engines, yes. The 0.95 A/R G40 Turbine Housing Kit sits one step above the smallest size, so it still spools well on mid-size engines while easing backpressure near redline. Larger or high-rpm builds should compare it with the 1.06 and 1.19 A/R options.

Which super cores fit this housing?

Garrett lists five: the G40-900 super core 860777-5003S, the G40-1150 860777-5002S, the G-Series II G40-1000 938272-5001S and G40-1250 938272-5002S, and the G-XRace GXR40-64 934173-5005S. The two G-Series II cores are also sold as CHRAs, 938271-5001S and 938271-5002S, for owners who already have their housings.

Does it include an internal wastegate?

No. Garrett lists this housing as free float, so it has no wastegate port, flapper or actuator. The exhaust manifold needs a flange for an external wastegate ahead of the turbocharger, and the gate is bought separately, sized for the boost target and the exhaust flow of the engine.

Is this housing made of stainless steel?

Yes. Garrett lists stainless steel turbine housings for the G40 range and rates the housings used on its G-Series II G40 cores to 1050C, which is 1922F. That makes it suitable for the sustained heat of high-boost use, provided the tune keeps exhaust temperatures in check.

Do I need a speed sensor?

Garrett recommends monitoring shaft speed. It publishes a maximum of 125,000 rpm for the G40 and G-Series II G40 cores and 109,000 rpm for the GXR40-64. A speed sensor fitted to the compressor housing port, sold separately, lets the tuner keep the turbocharger under that limit.

Description

Garrett G40 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.95 A/R V-Band Inlet and Outlet

Garrett’s G40 Turbine Housing Kit in the 0.95 A/R V-band version is the balanced single-scroll choice for the G40 frame, a stainless steel housing with clamped joints at both ends and an external wastegate layout. It accepts every G40 core Garrett lists, from the G40-900 to the G-Series II G40-1250 and the G-XRace GXR40-64. Most single-scroll engines in the middle of the 2.0L to 6.0L range should start here. It gives up a little early boost to the 0.85 in return for less backpressure, and it is not the part for a divided twin-scroll manifold.

Features

Undivided V-band inlet for single-entry manifolds and a V-band outlet
External wastegate layout, no internal flapper
0.95 A/R, second step in the V-band G40 Turbine Housing Kit range

Specifications

Garrett part number: 757707-0028
A/R: 0.95
Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Divided inlet: No
Wastegate: External (free float)
Material: Stainless steel
Matching turbine wheel: 77mm inducer and 70mm exducer

Applications

This G40 Turbine Housing Kit fits these Garrett super cores:

Garrett G40-900: 860777-5003S super core
Garrett G40-1000 G-Series II: 938272-5001S super core, 938271-5001S CHRA
Garrett G40-1150: 860777-5002S super core
Garrett G40-1250 G-Series II: 938272-5002S super core, 938271-5002S CHRA
Garrett GXR40-64 G-XRace: 934173-5005S super core

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G40 super core is sold separately
Garrett sets the maximum turbocharger speed at 125,000 rpm for the G40 and G-Series II G40 cores and 109,000 rpm for the GXR40-64; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Other A/R sizes and divided T4 versions are under G40 turbine housings
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
