Is the V-band G40 Turbine Housing Kit right for my single-scroll manifold?

Yes. This G40 Turbine Housing Kit has an undivided V-band inlet that matches a single-entry manifold with a V-band collector. Twin-scroll manifolds with a divided T4 flange need the T4 version, which Garrett makes in the same 0.85 to 1.19 A/R steps.

How does the 0.85 A/R affect boost?

It brings boost in earliest of the four G40 sizes. The small passage speeds up exhaust gas at the turbine wheel, so the turbocharger lights sooner. The trade is more backpressure at high rpm, which larger engines feel most. Smaller engines in the G40 range benefit the most.

Can the housing be clocked?

Yes. V-band clamps at both the inlet and the outlet let the housing rotate against the manifold and downpipe during the mock-up. That makes it easier to line up the wastegate, downpipe and compressor outlet on a tight engine bay before the clamps are tightened.

Can I upgrade my G40 core later?

Yes. Garrett states that G-Series II reuses the first-generation compressor and turbine housings and that the GXR40-64 uses the same V-band and T4 turbine housings as the G-Series. This housing stays in place when moving between any of the five G40 cores Garrett lists.

What does Garrett say about power ratings?

Garrett rates the G40 cores from 500 horsepower up to 1250 for the G-Series II G40-1250. Those numbers come from compressor choke flow and represent potential flywheel horsepower. Results depend on the engine, fuel, boost and calibration, and a small 0.85 A/R housing favors response over the ceiling.

Description

Garrett G40 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.85 A/R V-Band Inlet and Outlet

Garrett’s G40 Turbine Housing Kit with V-band inlet and outlet in 0.85 A/R is the quick-response housing for single-scroll G40 builds. It is stainless steel, clamps to the manifold and downpipe with V-band joints, and has no internal wastegate. Garrett lists it for the G40-900, G40-1150, G40-1000, G40-1250 and GXR40-64, all sized for 2.0L to 6.0L. A fabricated single-entry manifold on a four- or six-cylinder engine that wants boost early is the right home for it. Engines chasing the top of the G40 ratings will want a larger A/R.

Features

V-band inlet and outlet for a clamped, clockable fit
Free-float design, with boost held by an external wastegate
Smallest V-band size in the G40 Turbine Housing Kit range

Specifications

Garrett part number: 757707-0027
A/R: 0.85
Turbine inlet and outlet: V-band and V-band
Divided inlet: No
Wastegate: External (free float)
Material: Stainless steel
Matching turbine wheel: 77mm inducer and 70mm exducer

Applications

Garrett lists this G40 Turbine Housing Kit for these cores:

Garrett G40-900: 860777-5003S super core
Garrett G40-1000 G-Series II: 938272-5001S super core, 938271-5001S CHRA
Garrett G40-1150: 860777-5002S super core
Garrett G40-1250 G-Series II: 938272-5002S super core, 938271-5002S CHRA
Garrett GXR40-64 G-XRace: 934173-5005S super core

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this housing has no internal wastegate
The G40 super core is sold separately
Garrett sets the maximum turbocharger speed at 125,000 rpm for the G40 and G-Series II G40 cores and 109,000 rpm for the GXR40-64; running above it is at the owner’s risk
Garrett also offers 0.95, 1.06 and 1.19 A/R and divided T4 inlet versions
Garrett does not publish a hardware list for this kit; confirm clamps and gaskets before ordering

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
