What does the G35-990 G-Series II CHRA include?

The rotating center section: one-piece center housing and backplate, bearing cartridge, shaft with the 68mm Mar-M turbine wheel, and the 62mm compressor wheel. There is no compressor housing and no turbine housing. Garrett sells the same core with its compressor housing as the G35-990 super core.

How much power is the G35-990 rated for?

Garrett rates the G35-990 G-Series II CHRA at 550 to 990 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 5.5L. The figure is worked out from compressor choke flow and stands for potential flywheel horsepower. Fuel delivery, boost, turbine A/R and the calibration decide where a particular engine ends up.

G35-990 or G30-825 for a 3.0L six?

Both cover 3.0L. The G30-825 has a smaller 60mm turbine and a 58mm compressor, so it spools earlier and carries a 475 to 825 horsepower Garrett rating. The G35-990 moves to a 68mm turbine and 62mm compressor, which carries more flow past 800 horsepower at the cost of some response.

Which turbine kits fit this core?

Garrett lists nine standard-rotation G35 kits: V-band inlet housings in 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R and T3 inlet housings in 0.83 and 1.01 A/R for an external wastegate, a 1.06 A/R divided T4, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band internal wastegate housings.

Do I need to retune for the G-Series II core?

Yes. Garrett says a calibration is needed before the higher compressor flow turns into extra horsepower. The tuner should also respect the 140,000 rpm limit, and a Garrett speed sensor in the compressor housing, sold separately, gives a direct reading of shaft speed.

Description

Garrett G35-990 G-Series II CHRA, Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G35-990 G-Series II CHRA puts a 62mm compressor inducer in front of the 68mm G35 turbine, sold as the center section alone in standard rotation. Garrett rates it at 550 to 990 horsepower across a wide 2.0L to 5.5L window, and the large turbine is the reason: it lets a 3.0L six or a V8 pass 800 horsepower without the exhaust side choking. On a small four-cylinder it will come on boost late, and a G30 core is the better match there. Owners of a first-generation G35 can fit it in their existing standard-rotation housings.

Why G-Series II

The new compressor aerodynamics deliver up to 10 percent more flow than G-Series Gen I at peak pressure ratio and peak turbo speed, with better efficiency at high flow. Garrett made the center housing and backplate one piece to reduce failure points and fitted twin piston rings at both ends of the shaft to reduce oil leakage at the seals.

Features

68mm inducer turbine wheel in Mar-M alloy, rated to 1050C (1922F)
62mm compressor inducer, 76mm exducer, trim 65
Fits Gen I G35 compressor and turbine housings

Specifications

Compressor inducer and exducer: 62mm and 76mm
Compressor trim: 65
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard
Matching super core: 934123-5001S

Applications

The G35-990 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 5.5L
Power range: 550 to 990 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G35 turbine kits, standard rotation: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3 external wastegate, 1.06 A/R divided T4, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band internal wastegate

Notes

Compressor and turbine housings are not included; the G35-990 super core ships with the compressor housing
Garrett also builds the G35-990 as a complete turbocharger with a 0.83 or 1.01 A/R internal wastegate housing
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
