What engines use a reverse G35 Turbine Housing Kit with a T3 inlet?

Mainly large twin-turbo engines on T3 manifolds, where one bank runs a standard G35 and the other a reverse unit. The reverse G35 Turbine Housing Kit at 0.83 A/R keeps each turbocharger responsive on half the exhaust flow, which suits big V8 builds aimed at very high power.

Will it fit my standard G35 core?

No. Garrett lists this housing for reverse-rotation G35 super cores only, because the volute feeds a turbine wheel spinning in the reverse direction. A standard G35 with a T3 manifold needs part 740902-0106, which has the same A/R and inlet in standard rotation.

Should I choose 0.83 or 1.01 A/R for a twin G35 build?

Choose 0.83 A/R when response matters and the engine is in the middle of the twin-turbo size range. Choose 1.01 A/R, part 740902-0117, when each bank has the displacement and rpm to drive a G35 hard and peak power is the priority. Whichever size is chosen, use it on both banks so the pair stays balanced.

Which reverse cores does Garrett list for the T3 housing?

The reverse-rotation G35-900 and G35-1050 super cores and the G-Series II G35-990 reverse core. Garrett rates the G35-900 and G35-990 from 550 horsepower and the G35-1050 from 700, up to 900, 990 and 1050 horsepower respectively, per turbocharger, so a twin setup doubles the potential on paper.

What maximum shaft speed applies?

The limit is set by the core. Garrett lists 145,000 rpm for the G35-900, 140,000 rpm for the G35-990 and 130,000 rpm for the G35-1050, and states that running above it is at the risk of the owner. A speed sensor in the compressor housing, sold separately, lets the tuner watch shaft speed on both turbochargers.

Description

Garrett G35 Turbine Housing Kit, 0.83 A/R T3 Free Float Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s G35 Turbine Housing Kit in reverse rotation with a T3 inlet and 0.83 A/R is the free-float housing for a reverse-spinning G35 on a T3 manifold, with a V-band outlet. Garrett lists part 740902-0116 for the reverse-rotation G35-900, G35-1050 and G-Series II G35-990. A pair of G35s is serious hardware, so this housing belongs on a large twin-turbo V8 built for very high output on T3 manifolds, opposite the standard part 740902-0106. Few single-turbo engines need it; Garrett offers single reverse units mainly where packaging rules out a standard turbocharger.

Mirrored G35 Pair

Reverse rotation lets two G35s face each other across an engine with symmetrical inlet and exhaust routing. On a twin-turbo engine each G35 sees half the exhaust, so the 0.83 A/R is the responsive choice of the two reverse T3 sizes. The housing is stainless, rated to 1050C (1922F), and boost is set by external wastegates.

Features

Reverse-rotation 0.83 A/R volute
T3 inlet with a V-band outlet
Free float, external wastegate control

Specifications

Garrett part number: 740902-0116
A/R: 0.83
Turbine inlet and outlet: T3 and V-band
Wastegate: External (free float)
Rotation: Reverse
Material: Stainless steel, rated to 1050C (1922F)

Applications

Garrett lists this G35 Turbine Housing Kit for these reverse-rotation super cores:

Garrett G35-900 Reverse Rotation: 880696-5001S
Garrett G35-990 G-Series II Reverse Rotation: 934126-5001S
Garrett G35-1050 Reverse Rotation: 880696-5002S

Notes

An external wastegate is required, because this free-float housing has no internal wastegate
The reverse-rotation G35 super core is sold separately
Reverse rotation only; standard G35 cores take part 740902-0106
A 1.01 A/R reverse T3 housing is listed by Garrett as part 740902-0117

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
