What is in the box with the G30-825 G-Series II CHRA?

The center housing rotating assembly: center housing and backplate, bearing cartridge, shaft and turbine wheel, and the 58mm compressor wheel. There is no compressor housing or turbine housing. Builders reusing G30 housings need nothing more on the turbocharger side, while a new build should add a super core or a turbine kit.

How much horsepower will the G30-825 make?

Garrett rates the G30-825 G-Series II CHRA at 475 to 825 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. Garrett bases the figure on compressor choke flow and calls it potential flywheel horsepower, so the outcome depends on the fuel system, boost, turbine housing A/R and the calibration.

Why is the speed limit lower than the G30-725?

Garrett publishes a lower maximum allowable speed for the larger 58mm wheel: 140,000 rpm for the G30-825, against 160,000 rpm for the G30-725. A speed sensor in the compressor housing, sold separately, lets the tuner confirm the turbocharger stays inside that limit at altitude and high boost.

Which G30 turbine housing should I pick?

Smaller A/R housings such as the 0.61 or 0.83 bring boost in sooner, while the 1.01 and 1.21 favor top-end flow on larger or higher-revving engines. Garrett offers nine standard-rotation G30 kits in V-band, T3 and divided T4 inlets. Check the choice against the Garrett flow maps for the engine.

Will the G30-825 G-Series II CHRA fit my Gen I G30?

Yes. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the Gen I compressor and turbine housings and that a CHRA purchase is the direct upgrade path for Gen I owners. Fit it into standard-rotation G30 housings and retune, because Garrett states a calibration is required to use the extra flow.

Description

Garrett G30-825 G-Series II CHRA, Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G30-825 G-Series II CHRA puts a 58mm compressor inducer on the G30 turbine, giving the frame its highest G-Series II rating of 475 to 825 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. It is sold as the center housing rotating assembly in standard rotation, without housings. The power floor is higher than the G30-725, which tells the buyer who it is for: a built 2.0L to 3.0L engine with the fuel and rpm to fill a bigger compressor. For an engine that stays near 500 horsepower, the G30-725 will feel livelier.

Inside the Center Section

Garrett made the center housing and backplate one piece to reduce failure points, and shortened the bearing cartridge so twin piston rings fit at each end of the shaft, which Garrett says reduces the likelihood of oil leakage at the seals. The turbine wheel is Mar-M alloy rated to 1050C (1922F).

Features

58mm compressor inducer, the larger of the two G30 G-Series II options
Up to 10 percent more compressor flow than Gen I at peak pressure ratio and turbo speed
Uses Gen I G30 compressor and turbine housings

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5855
Compressor inducer and exducer: 58mm and 71mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 140,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard
Matching super core: 934117-5002S

Applications

The G30-825 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 475 to 825 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G30 turbine kits, standard rotation: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3 external wastegate, 1.06 A/R divided T4, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band internal wastegate

Notes

Turbine housing and compressor housing are not included; the G30-825 super core adds the compressor housing
Garrett also sells the G30-825 as a complete turbocharger with a 0.83 or 1.01 A/R internal wastegate housing
Garrett states that running above 140,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
