Is a turbine housing included with the G30-725 G-Series II CHRA?

No. The CHRA is the rotating center section only, without a turbine housing or a compressor housing. Garrett lists nine standard-rotation G30 turbine kits for it, from a 0.61 A/R V-band housing up to a 1.21 A/R, including T3 and divided T4 inlets and two internal wastegate versions.

What engines suit the G30-725?

Garrett sizes the G30-725 G-Series II CHRA for 2.0L to 3.5L engines making 350 to 725 horsepower. The figure is calculated from compressor choke flow and represents potential flywheel horsepower. It suits larger four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines that need more turbine flow than the G25 frame offers.

Can I reuse my first generation G30 housings?

Yes. Garrett states that G-Series II uses the Gen I compressor and turbine housings and that existing Gen I owners can keep their compressor cover when upgrading with only a CHRA. Match rotation and confirm the compressor housing against the Garrett flange diagram before fitting.

G30-725 or G30-825: which should I buy?

The G30-725 uses a 54mm compressor inducer and is rated to 725 horsepower, so it builds boost earlier and has a higher speed limit of 160,000 rpm. The G30-825 steps to a 58mm inducer and an 825 horsepower rating for engines that will use the extra airflow at high rpm.

Will I need to retune after this upgrade?

Yes. Garrett states that a calibration is required to take advantage of the increased compressor flow for a horsepower gain. The tuner should also watch shaft speed, and a Garrett speed sensor in the compressor housing, sold separately, is the reliable way to keep the turbocharger below 160,000 rpm.

Description

Garrett G30-725 G-Series II CHRA, Standard Rotation

Garrett’s G30-725 G-Series II CHRA is the entry point to the G30 frame: a 54mm compressor inducer on a larger 55mm exducer turbine than any G25, sold as the center section alone in standard rotation. Garrett rates it at 350 to 725 horsepower on 2.0L to 3.5L engines. That spread makes it a good fit for a 2.5L to 3.0L six or a large four-cylinder that has outgrown a G25 turbine but still wants strong midrange. The compressor is modest for the frame, so an engine aimed at 800 horsepower or more is better matched to the G30-825.

G-Series II Upgrades

Compared with G-Series Gen I, the new compressor aerodynamics give up to 10 percent more flow at peak pressure ratio and peak turbo speed, with higher efficiency at high flow rates. The housings were left alone, so an existing G30 owner can fit this core and keep the compressor cover and turbine housing already on the engine.

Features

Mar-M alloy turbine wheel rated to 1050C (1922F)
Standard rotation, matching the nine standard-rotation G30 turbine kits Garrett lists
Direct Gen I to Gen II upgrade with a CHRA swap

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5455
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard
Matching super core: 934117-5001S

Applications

The G30-725 G-Series II CHRA is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 3.5L
Power range: 350 to 725 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett G30 turbine kits, standard rotation: 0.61, 0.83, 1.01 and 1.21 A/R V-band and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R T3 external wastegate, 1.06 A/R divided T4, and 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band internal wastegate

Notes

Compressor and turbine housings are not included; the G30-725 super core comes with the compressor housing
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause premature failure
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
A calibration is required to use the added compressor flow

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
