Does my twin-turbo engine need a G25-700 Reverse Rotation Turbo?

Yes, if the layout mirrors the two turbochargers so their housings face opposite ways. The G25-700 Reverse Rotation Turbo is built for that second position, with wheels that spin the other way. If both turbochargers on the engine turn the same direction, two standard rotation units are correct instead.

What is the rated output of each G25-700?

Garrett rates each G25-700 at 350 to 700 horsepower on engines from 1.4L to 3.0L, calculated from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower. A twin installation does not simply double the figure on paper, because displacement per turbocharger, fuel and calibration set the result.

Is this the same compressor as the standard G25-700?

Yes in size, mirrored in direction. Both have a 54mm inducer and 67mm exducer on the compressor and a 54mm by 49mm turbine wheel, with Garrett frame reference 5449. Only the rotation and the housings differ, so a matched pair delivers equal flow on both banks.

Which reverse housing size should I buy, 0.72 or 0.92?

The 0.72 A/R on this unit builds boost earlier and suits twin engines that need response at street speeds. The 0.92 A/R reverse version suits engines that rev high or sit at the large end of the displacement range per turbocharger. Match whichever you choose on both banks.

How fast can the G25-700 spin?

Garrett sets the maximum allowable turbocharger speed at 160,000 rpm. Operating above it is at the risk of the owner and can lead to damage and premature failure. Garrett recommends a speed sensor in the compressor housing to monitor shaft speed, and the sensor kit is sold separately.

Description

Garrett G25-700 Reverse Rotation Turbocharger, G-Series II 0.72 A/R V-Band

Garrett’s G25-700 Reverse Rotation Turbo is the counter-rotating version of the 54mm G-Series II G25, meant to sit opposite a standard rotation G25-700 on a mirrored twin-turbo engine. It carries a 0.72 A/R internal wastegate turbine housing with V-band connections at both ends, and the 0.5 bar actuator is set by Garrett before shipping. Garrett rates each turbocharger at 350 to 700 horsepower on 1.4L to 3.0L engines, which makes a pair a serious upgrade for a twin-turbo six. On a single-turbo engine it is the wrong part.

Features

Reverse rotation with mirrored housings, the partner to a standard rotation G25-700
0.72 A/R internal wastegate turbine housing with V-band joints
Twin piston rings on both sides of the shaft, made possible by a shorter bearing cartridge

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5449
Compressor inducer and exducer: 54mm and 67mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 54mm and 49mm
Turbine housing: 0.72 A/R, V-band inlet and outlet
Wastegate actuator: 0.5 bar
Maximum turbocharger speed: 160,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

What’s Included

G25-700 G-Series II reverse rotation turbocharger with 0.72 A/R internal wastegate housing and actuator
Oil restrictor and water fittings

Applications

The G25-700 Reverse Rotation Turbo is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.4L to 3.0L
Power range: 350 to 700 horsepower per turbocharger (Garrett rating)
Layout: Mirrored twin-turbo engines

Notes

Pair it with a standard rotation G25-700 with the same housing
A 0.92 A/R reverse rotation G25 turbo is also available
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 160,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
