Injector Dynamics’ FPS1100 Fuel Pump System pairs the BPC100 brushless pump controller with a TI Automotive E5LM brushless fuel pump, so one pump holds its target flow whatever battery voltage or boost is doing. Injector Dynamics shows a pair of conventional 500 l/h pumps falling to about half their combined rating at 4 bar base pressure, 30 psi of boost and 12 volts, while the BPC100 keeps the E5LM at up to 1,100 l/h through the same conditions. The company rates the combination for more than 2,000 hp on ethanol at fuel pressures up to 150 psi. A gasoline street car with modest boost is better served by a conventional pump; this system suits ethanol and race builds that would otherwise stack two or three pumps.

Controller and Pump

The BPC100 runs the pump from its own internal power supply and uses a microprocessor to monitor pump speed and adjust power. Flow can be fixed with the onboard potentiometer, set to follow a MAP sensor, or commanded by a PWM signal from the engine management, and CAN output reports voltage, current, flow, temperature, MAP voltage and duty cycle.

About Injector Dynamics

Injector Dynamics is an Arizona injector specialist and an authorized technical partner of Bosch Motorsport, developing its injectors to its own specification rather than modifying production parts. It introduced slope and offset matching in 2007, and its Dual Slope Matching, developed by engineer Aaron Looft, extends matching into the short pulse widths that boosted and ethanol engines rely on.
