Why does a NOVITEC exhaust trigger GPF warnings without the 849 Testarossa GTRONIC?

The car’s GPF monitoring is calibrated to the flow and pressure of the factory exhaust. A NOVITEC system changes those conditions, so the software flags the readings as faults even though the filter is working normally. The GTRONIC corrects how the car interprets those readings.

Does the GTRONIC remove or disable the particulate filter?

NOVITEC GTRONIC for F173M Ferrari 849 Testarossa

The gasoline particulate filter on the 849 Testarossa does its job quietly until something changes in the exhaust. The GPF traps soot from the direct-injected 4.0L twin-turbo V8. The car’s sensors track pressure and temperature across the filter to decide when it’s loading up and when it needs to regenerate. Those readings are calibrated to the factory exhaust. Once a NOVITEC system is installed, flow and backpressure no longer match what the software expects, and the car starts showing GPF error indications even though nothing is wrong. The NOVITEC 849 Testarossa GTRONIC is the electronic module that prevents this. It manages how the car reads the GPF sensors with the new exhaust installed, so the car runs without false warnings. NOVITEC requires it for every exhaust system it offers for this car.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse.
