Do these pads fit the factory S2000 calipers?

No. They are made only for the HYPER 6IX six-piston caliper from the same Osaka tuner and cannot be installed in factory calipers or other aftermarket calipers. If your car runs the earlier forged 6-Pot Caliper Kit, order the replacement pads listed for that kit instead.

Are the HYPER 6IX Pads for AP1 cars good on the street?

Yes. The HYPER 6IX Pads for AP1 cars are an all-round design that puts circuit driving first while still working on the road. The rated range of 0 to 800 degrees Celsius covers cold starts, and the intended use runs from winding roads to the circuit.

What tires are they matched to?

The manufacturer lists them for use with ordinary radial tires and with S-type tires, the semi-slick competition tires used at time attack and track events. The compound was also tuned with low-grip circuit surfaces in mind, with mid to high temperature stability and control aimed at keeping lockup to a minimum.

Should I replace the rotors at the same time?

The manufacturer recommends fitting new rotors at the same time as a caliper change, so that the new pads bed onto a fresh surface. It also recommends rotors in FC or FCR material. If you are only replacing worn pads on an existing setup, check rotor condition first.

How do they feel compared with a street pad?

Bite builds quickly at the top of the pedal stroke, and the release from mid travel to the bottom has been improved for finer control when trail braking. The quoted friction coefficient is 0.50 from a carbon semi-metallic base, and the pads are designed to stay consistent when hot.

Description

J’s Racing HYPER 6IX Pads for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s HYPER 6IX Pads for AP1 and AP2 S2000s are the circuit-capable all-round compound developed with brake maker Seidoya for the HYPER 6IX six-piston caliper, the newer of the two J’s Racing caliper designs for the roadster. Seidoya tuned the carbon semi-metallic mix to stay stable at high temperature while giving more control: initial bite builds quickly, and release improves from the middle of the pedal stroke to the bottom. J’s Racing also tuned them for low-grip circuit surfaces, keeping lockup to a minimum. They suit an owner who drives to the track on the same set and runs anything from radial tires to S-tires; a car that never sees a circuit gains little.

Features

Carbon semi-metallic base material
Friction coefficient of 0.50
Rated from 0 to 800 degrees Celsius
Fast initial bite with improved release deep in the pedal stroke
Tuned to limit lockup on low-grip circuits
Works with radial tires through to S-type competition tires

Applications

Honda S2000: AP1 | 1999-2003 | 2.0L F20C
Honda S2000: AP2 | 2004-2009 | 2.2L F22C

Notes

Fits the J’s Racing HYPER 6IX caliper only; these pads do not fit factory calipers or any other caliper
J’s Racing recommends fitting new rotors when you change calipers, and recommends rotors in FC or FCR material
Cars running the earlier J’s Racing forged caliper kit need the 6-Pot Brake Pads for the S2000 6-Pot Caliper Kit instead
Product photos are representative, and the pads you receive may look different
Ordered from Japan through J’s Racing USA, and Bulletproof Automotive confirms lead time and availability when you place the order

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
