Does fitting this wing mean drilling the trunk?

Yes. The wing mounts on its own dedicated trunk brackets, and the trunk lid has to be drilled to accept them. If you want to avoid drilling, the manufacturer offers a separate bolt-on version of the 1600mm wing that uses the factory spoiler holes.

Will the 3D GT-Wing 1600mm for FD2 fit a US-market Civic?

Not necessarily. The 3D GT-Wing 1600mm for FD2 is designed for the Japanese-market FD2 Civic Type R sedan, and the manufacturer does not list the US-market FG Civic. Confirm that your car is an FD2 Type R before ordering, and ask Bulletproof Automotive to check any doubt with the US distributor.

How does the 1600mm wing differ from the 1390mm version?

Both share the single-element Type 1 profile, 195mm height and dedicated trunk brackets. The 1600mm wing is wider and weighs 3.5kg against 3.4kg, and the manufacturer pitches it at high-speed circuits such as Suzuka and Fuji. The 1390mm wing is the narrower one that the Osaka tuner ran on its Super Taikyu ST4 Civic.

How much adjustment does the wing have?

There are 15 positions, combining angle and height in a 5 x 3 pattern. That lets you start with a low-drag setting for a fast track and add angle for a slower, more technical one. Change one step at a time, since more angle also adds drag.

What is the wing made of, and does it need protecting?

The element is twill-weave wet carbon and the brackets are dry carbon, for a wing weight of 3.5kg. The manufacturer recommends a UV-cut clear coat on cars that are stored outside or kept for a long time, because sunlight can fade and yellow exposed carbon over the years.

Description

J’s Racing 3D GT-Wing 1600mm for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s 3D GT-Wing 1600mm for FD2 Civic Type R sedans is the full-width version of the Osaka tuner’s single-element Type 1 wing, built for the fast end of the calendar. J’s Racing shaped the single flap to keep drag down and aimed its downforce at medium and high speeds, naming Suzuka Circuit and Fuji Speedway as the tracks where it pays off. The 1600mm span and 195mm height carry a twill-weave wet carbon element on dry carbon trunk brackets, for 3.5kg in total. It suits an FD2 that spends real time at quick circuits; a car that sees tight autocross courses or mostly street miles will get little from it.

Design and Performance

One flap rather than two is the deliberate choice here: the manufacturer designed the single element to keep drag low on long straights while still loading the rear axle through fast corners. Fifteen positions across angle and height let the setting follow the circuit instead of being fixed at one compromise.

Notes

J’s Racing designs this part for the JDM FD2 Civic Type R sedan, and it may not fit the US-market FG Civic

J’s Racing recommends a UV-cut clear coat for cars parked outdoors or kept for many years, to stop the carbon fading in sunlight
For a mount that uses the factory spoiler holes with no drilling, see the Bolt-On 3D GT-Wing for the FD2 Honda Civic Type R
Made to order in Japan and shipped through J’s Racing USA; Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time once your order is in

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
