Does the Type-S Under Panel for AP1 cars include the front bumper?

No. The Type-S Under Panel for AP1 and AP2 cars is the lower front wing only. It mounts to the Type-S front bumper from the same maker, which is sold separately, and it will not fit the factory bumper or another brand of bumper.

Can Version 2 replace my Version 1 panel?

Yes. Version 2 is compatible with the earlier Type-S design and fits an existing Type-S front bumper without modification. The manufacturer says swapping to it increases front downforce, because the updated panel draws more air under the chassis, and its reinforced ribs make it stiffer.

Why would a car need more front downforce?

A rear GT wing adds a lot of grip at the back, which can leave the front relatively short of downforce and upset the balance. This panel was designed to correct that, using a GT style front wing below the bumper and a flat panel back to the radiator core support.

Does the carbon panel need clear coat?

It can be used as supplied, since the carbon Version 2 panel comes in a clear gelcoat finish. The manufacturer still recommends a UV protective clear coat to protect the carbon over time. The FRP panels arrive in black gelcoat and must be painted before use.

Is it fragile on the street?

Any low front wing is exposed to curbs, ramps and road debris, and this one sits low at the front of the car. Version 2 has reinforced ribs for more rigidity, and because it is sold separately, a damaged wing can be replaced without buying a new bumper.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Under Panel for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000

J’s Racing’s Type-S Under Panel for AP1 and AP2 S2000s is the front wing that sits beneath the Type-S front bumper, sold on its own as a replacement or an upgrade. J’s designed it after finding that a car fitted with a GT wing ends up short of front downforce. The answer borrows from GT racing: a fully two-piece nose, bumper above and wing below, with a flat panel running back under the radiator core support. It only fits the Type-S front bumper, so it suits owners who already run that bumper and have cracked a wing, or want the newer Version 2 shape.

Development and Testing

Version 2 updates the panel to pull air actively into the area under the chassis, giving stronger downforce and a more aggressive look. Its ribs were reinforced, making the part itself stiffer. It is compatible with the earlier Type-S design and mounts to an existing Type-S front bumper without modification, so a Version 1 car can step up to it directly.

Features

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
