Does this radiator work with air conditioning?

No. The manufacturer states that air conditioning cannot be fitted alongside this radiator, so the A/C system must come out of the car before installation. It is intended for lightweight track and time attack Civics, and owners who want to keep working air conditioning should stay with a radiator that supports it.

What should US Civic owners check before buying the Max Cooling Radiator for EG6?

The Max Cooling Radiator for EG6 cars is designed for the Japanese-market EG6 Civic SiR with the B16A engine, and it may not fit a US-market EG Civic. Owners of US cars, including those with engine swaps, should confirm their chassis and engine details with Bulletproof Automotive before placing an order.

What is flex round forming?

It is an integral press forming process the manufacturer uses on this radiator. Bent and folded areas keep the same material thickness instead of thinning out, which the manufacturer says increases strength while reducing weight. The process also allowed a larger capacity to be packaged into the space available.

Why does steady coolant temperature matter for power?

When coolant runs hot, the engine computer applies a high-temperature correction that reduces power and can hurt fuel economy. By moving coolant through the core efficiently and dissipating more heat, the radiator is designed to prevent the temperature rise that comes with full throttle running, so the B16A keeps making its usual power.

Is the heat dissipation coating included?

No. The manufacturer offers the coating as an option and recommends it for drivers who spend a lot of time on track, but it is not included with this radiator or this listing. Ask Bulletproof Automotive if you would like availability of the coated version checked with the US distributor.

Description

J’s Racing Max Cooling Radiator for EG6 Honda Civic

J’s Racing’s Max Cooling Radiator for EG6 Civic SiR hatchbacks is the Osaka tuner’s fix for a B16A that heats up when it lives near the rev limiter. The full-size radiator is aluminum throughout, carries a 48mm core and is shaped by flex round forming, an integral press process that leaves bends and folds at their original gauge, so it ends up stronger and lighter. J’s Racing has built only Honda parts since 1989 and rates this radiator essential for circuit and sports driving in every season. Time-attack and track-day Civics are the natural home; since it cannot be combined with air conditioning, a comfortable street EG6 is better left on its stock radiator.

Tips

J’s Racing sells a heat-dissipation coating as an option for this radiator and suggests it for owners who drive hard regularly, because the coated core releases heat more effectively. The coating is not part of this listing. Before ordering, plan the air conditioning removal if your car still has it, since the radiator is not designed to work with an A/C condenser in place.

Features

Aluminum throughout, designed around weight saving and cooling efficiency
Full-size format with a 48mm deep core
Flex round press forming keeps bent sections at full thickness
Higher capacity from a new processing technique
Holds coolant temperature steady at full throttle so the ECU avoids its hot-running power cut

Applications

Honda Civic SiR: EG6 | 1991-1995 | 1.6L B16A

Notes

J’s Racing designs this part for the JDM EG6 Civic with the B16A engine; it may not fit the US-market EG Civic

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
