Which NSX models does the NSX-R GT Front Bumper fit?

Spoon registers the NSX-R GT Front Bumper for every manual NA1 and NA2 it lists, from 1990 to 2005, including the 1992 and 2002 NSX-R. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, describes it as a part for the 2002-on facelifted car, so owners of earlier NSX models should weigh that difference before ordering.

Is this the same bumper as the Honda NSX-R GT?

No. Spoon models its bumper on the NSX-R GT, so the shape follows that car, but it is a Spoon FRP part made for owners of road NSX models rather than a Honda factory component. Go Tuning says the design adds front downforce over the standard bumper as well as giving the car a more aggressive look.

What is it made from?

Go Tuning lists FRP construction, the fiber reinforced plastic Spoon uses for most of its bodywork. Spoon has not published a weight for this bumper, so BA does not claim a saving over the factory part. Like other Spoon FRP bodywork, it should be test fitted on the car before it is painted.

Does it add downforce?

Yes, according to Go Tuning, which describes the bumper as providing more downforce along with its aggressive styling. Neither Go Tuning nor Spoon publishes a figure, so BA does not quote a number. On a mid-engine car that carries little weight over the front wheels, extra front grip helps balance the car at speed.

Should a specialist fit it?

Yes. The NSX has an aluminum body, and a front bumper swap involves careful removal of the factory part, a test fit and paint matched to the original color. A shop with NSX or composite experience will handle the fit and finish well and can protect the surrounding panels while the bumper is changed.

Description

Spoon Sports NSX-R GT Front Bumper for NA1 / NA2 Honda NSX

The Spoon Sports NSX-R GT Front Bumper for NA1 / NA2 Honda NSX recreates the look of the NSX-R GT in FRP, and Go Tuning, the US distributor for Spoon, credits it with more front downforce as well as a far more aggressive face. Spoon registers it in Japan for every manual NA1 and NA2 it lists, from the first 3.0 liter C30A cars of 1990 to the 3.2 liter C32B cars of 2005, including both NSX-R models. Go Tuning, however, lists it as a part for the 2002-on facelifted NSX, and that difference matters on a car whose front was restyled at the facelift. Spoon publishes no weight or dimensions for this bumper, so BA claims no weight saving. It suits an NSX being built around a GT look for track days and shows; a collector preserving an original car should keep the factory nose.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
